Reinforcements

Petir sprayed automatic fire with his pistol. His rounds rip through one of the three Black Daggers, spattering blood and brain matter all over his comrades. A ricochet clipped another commando in the jugular, causing blood to spurt before Corvis threw a stun grenade at his feet. The grenade detonated right as Petir's ammo ran out. Corvis then fired, blasting Petir with a burst. With the guardsman dead, he looked to see two dead commandos and another covered in the blood of his comrades.

"Let's move. We can mourn later." Corvis shouted.

He looked at the body of Heren. The attack wasn't going to plan, all due to one damned guardsman. Corvis needed to regain control of the situation and fast. Killing the Princess and preventing the sentry guns from turning on the attackers would mean killing two birds with one stone. Of course, with the cameras no longer under their control, he was moving forward into the unknown.

When he arrived at a corner, he stopped to peek around it. As he did so, he entered the reflection of the mirror Jol had placed down, angled at a corner. Noticing this, Corvis moved back and grabbed a stun grenade, right as automatic fire erupted. Jol fired a long burst from his carbine, causing concrete and dust to splatter around Corvis. Once the fire died down, Corvis threw his grenade, which erupted with a bright flash and a booming bang.

When it did so, Corvis and the Black Daggers moved around the corner, before rounding the one Jol had been behind. All he found was empty space in a hallway that ended in a T-section, the left leading to the command center and the right leading to another elevator. Both men moved forward at an equal pace, before entering the T-section, with Corvis going left and the Dagger going right and entering Jol's sight line. He fired a burst that riddled him with bullets, the rounds penetrating through his body and striking his comrade as he entered the hallway. Corvis, having managed to avoid the burst, retreated back to where he had came from.

"Pretty slick there." Corvis shouted.

"Corvis?" Jol replied, surprised to hear the voice of his former comrade.

"Jol. So this is where you ended up?"

"Drop your weapon Corvis. It's over."

"You know I can't do that. Us Raiders never surrender, right?"

"Right."

Jol fired another burst towards Corvis, who in turned reached for a grenade. He threw it towards the elevator so Jol took cover. Once it went off, Jol stuck his weapon out and blindly fired it at Corvis' position. After the gunfire seized, Corvis said "How the fuck did you pass the academy firing like some pussy pissing his pants?"

"Yeah, well you still don't have balls to come towards me."

"I dunno. You gotta be running low on ammo."

"Don't be so sure. Your friends gave me plenty."

"Right, but I don't need to kill you. Just that whore Princess."

With that, Corvis opened fire and started to go down the hallway. As his bullets smash into the back of the elevator, Jol took a deep breath. Once the gunfire stopped, he took pursuit, rushing down the hallway. Corvis then rounded the corner, seeing the lobby in front of the control room. With a smile, he moved forward. Meanwhile, Antol and Jani wait for him to enter the room, their weapons trained in the doorway.

Corvis rushed towards the room, only to enter a barrage of gunfire. Jani's burst shatters his carbine as Antol's gunfire hits Corvis' shoulder. He proceeded to retreat back into the passageway, where he found Jol with his pneumatic baton in hand. He thrusted at Corvis, who sidestepped and drew his own baton. In retort, he attempted a counter attack but Jol stepped back to get out of range.

Both men locked eyes, wondering who was going to make the first move. Both knew firsthand just how deadly the pneumatic baton could be. Jol decided to make the first move, feinting a thrust before stepping back. Corvis remained still, before waiting for the next feint. When it comes, he swings at the baton, smacking it out of the way before lunging forward at Jol. In response, Jol leans back before thrusting his baton upwards, slamming it into Corvis' forearm, the baton shattering the bone.

The baton fell from Corvis' hand so Jol swung his baton into Corvis' lead leg. The blow crashed into his knee, breaking it and causing Corvis to collapse against the wall. Before he could raise his arm, Jol swung again at his head, dazing him. A follow-up blow splits Corvis' forehead, causing blood to flow as he fell to the ground. Half-heartedly, Corvis raised his arm as Jol sidestepped and swung at Corvis' temple. This time the disc of the baton smashes Corvis' skull and lodges into his brain, killing him.

Jani then rounded the corner, before looking to Jol. "Are you alright Jol?"

"Yeah... Yeah I'm fine."

"Kira's got the sentry guns back on our side. They've got nowhere to go, but we need to back up the King to make sure they don't make a final push."

"Understood, but I'll need another gun."

"Here." Jani handed Jol the carbine she'd grabbed. "You know what you're doing with this more than I do."

Jol nodded. "Right. Let's go protect the king."

The three head over to the elevator, with Jani taking a weapon from one of the commandos Jol had killed. When they're ready, Jol hit the button and prepared for whatever awaited him in the Royal Chambers.
