Kyle stalls

"Oh no no no," Kyle shook his head. "You agreed to this date and we just got here!"

"Yeah but... that was before my dress broke!" Lauren pointed out, exacerbated.

"Come on, you look fine!" Kyle said.

"But I want to go!" Lauren whined.

"...Fine." Kyle said reluctantly. "Let's do a loop around the boardwalk and find some dinner before we go. I told you're mother I'd feed you."

Lauren fumed, embarrassed her date had been planned by her mother.

"Fine." Lauren said grumpy.

After all, she had no escape without him. She followed Kyle, clutching desperately at her dress...
