Move onto the next phase of your life.

The next few months are chaotic. You move out of your house into a small apartment, which suits you perfectly. Gemma spends the majority of the week there as your live-in girlfriend, keeping your relationship a secret whilst you tie up all of the loose ends. Eventually, Rebecca decides to move back to her hometown. With your marriage ended, there is little left for her here but bad memories. The two of you amicably divide your assets, selling your home and the beach house, and splitting the money evenly between the two of you. The real estate market has been good to the two of you and having purchased the properties a couple of decades ago you're left with a sizable sum of cash in your bank account.

The entire process takes close to six months to finalize, and on one wintery evening whilst you and Gemma are sitting on the couch in your tiny apartment watching television, you receive an email notification on your phone from your lawyer, telling you that all the papers are signed and your divorce from Rebecca is finalized. With a breath of relief, you turn off the television and stand up from the couch, facing your beautiful Asian goddess for the first time in your relationship completely free.

"Gemma," you say, pulling out a small velvet box from your pocket and getting down on one knee, "Will you marry me?"
