Woof woof.

Your stomach growls noisily, causing the boys to laugh at you. There's really no other way out. You crawl over to Patrick, your knees scraping against the dirt and leaves of the forest floor.

"Please, Sir, may I-"

"Did I command you to speak?" Patrick says softly, shutting you up instantly and causing the boys to laugh again.

Not knowing what else to do, you sit on your knees and wait for instructions.

"That's better," Patrick says. "Now, beg."

You get back on your hands and knees and start making high whining sounds like a dog. You rub your face against Patrick's lower leg and paw at his knee. You look at him imploringly, your stomach growling once again.

"Speak, dog," he commands.

You pause, considering. Then you say, "Woof."

"Good girl," Patrick says ruffling your hair. He breaks off a small bite of granola bar and places it on his leg. You wait, knowing you need to be given permission to eat. "Very good," he says, admiring your patience. "You may eat." You lift your face to Patrick's lap and take the bite of granola bar into your mouth. It's small and, if possible, only serves to make you hungrier. You look up at him again, silently begging for more.

"Here," Patrick says, tossing the granola bar to Arnold. Arnold smiles, patting his leg and saying "Here girl!" You pad over, and Arnold places a piece of granola bar on his bare foot. "Beg," he says, and once again you whine and rub up against Arnold's black leg.

"Now speak," Arnold says.

"Woof, woof!" you bark, causing the poli-sci major to laugh.

"Good girl," he says. "You may eat." Again, you scarf down the granola bar. Again it gets tossed to another boy.

You pad your way around the campsite, begging for diminishingly small scraps of food, until Lawrence gets the last scrap.

"Here girl," he says evilly, and your heart sinks into your still-ravenous stomach.
