This is not where I fell asleep

Rob came to in what appeared to be a chamber 8ft by 8ft but with a seemingly tall ceiling. He felt like he’d the hangover from hell. “What the fuck did I drink last night..and where are my pulls..?” he murmured. He realised they seemed to have vanquished with his phone, wallet and keys. Typical. “Can somebody let me out of here?”

With that; a spotlight shone onto Rob and a man’s voice boomed overhead.

“Ah you’re awake Rob, at last”

“Thought we were going to have to sound a klaxlon to break you out of that slumber”, said a woman’s voice.

A panel on a stand rose up out of the floor facing Rob with a screen on it and lit up.

“Congratulations Rob, you’ve been selected as a competitor in the man-maker games; a pilot televised contest where through brain and brawn you’ll have a chance to win 100,000 credits!” announced the man.

“100,000 credits!” exclaimed Rob. 100,000 credits would finally get him an upgrade on his carrier, and enable him to ship twice as fast and double his income.

“Yes-suree”replied the male voice.

“All you need to do is sign the disclaimer on the screen below” said the female voice.

A cursory glance at the screen revealed a disclaimer written in size 6 font with a space for a signature at the bottom which flashed inviting Rob’s signature.

Rob did as the three other gents in the neighbouring containers did, much to his hosts delight; a quick scan, but 100,000 credits was a life changing amount. The planet seemed fairly ofay, not like many other places he’d shipped things to.

“Here goes nothing” said Rob, as he signed the screen. With that, the screen blacked out and retracted into the ground. What appeared to be cameras also emerged; some from the walls of this mysterious box he was in; others where on drones which floated down from the darkness above the lights above.

“That’s the spirit sport. Now just relax while we get you prepared to compete.”
