Lauren's eyes widened even more as she heard the distinctive artificial shutter of a camera taking a picture. She looked over her shoulder, lip quivering. She saw Daryl, her step brother standing there with his phone pointed straight at her!

Daryl's father and Lauren's mother had married only a few years ago. This meant they became siblings late in high school. So Daryl didn't view Lauren like a sister. Much the opposite in fact.
