Chapter 8 by ShadowHunterJak ShadowHunterJak

Does she go through with it?

Of course, she ain't no chicken!

Her mind made up, Ruby strapped her normal boots on. The lady heels version just didn't look comfortable enough for her liking, and she wanted to have a stable footing in case an emergency occurred. Putting her scroll in it's pouch on her belt and buckling it, she confidently left the dorm room and dashed to the party hall to wait for her friends.

There was practically no one milling around the campus right now, given she was so early to the party. That was another bonus to this costume: very little prep time. Ruby strode confidently to the hall, every step closer filling her with a weird, burning feeling. Making it to the hall, she found it dim and empty; the tables were set up, but practically no one was here. The DJ was up in his booth, and a couple were sitting at a table quietly chatting. Perfect for Ruby, given the small kernel of hesitation that was worming it's way through her skull. Even though she was committed, there was a part of her brain yelling that she was out of her mind. Finding a dark corner, Ruby leaned against the wall and pulled her scroll out. She texted Yang she was waiting in the hall, and then began scrolling through social media. She had to fill the time somehow after all, and keep her mind occupied. Given how quiet it was right now, she had plenty of time to sort herself out.

Scrolling through her feed, she felt an inspiration hit. All of her friends were sharing their costumes or the process of getting ready. Maybe taking a picture might help her in some way? Looking up, she saw there had been maybe two more people who came in, but no one was looking her way. Feeling her heart flutter, she quickly opened the camera and struck a pose, with her right hand making a peace sign next to her head, which she tilted to the left. Cocking her hip to the right, she had a playful pose ready. The camera poised slightly overhead, she quickly snapped the photo, and went back to her post against the wall. Looking at the end result, she felt the warm feeling intensify. She looked hella good. The angle and outfit screamed confidence, and it rivaled some of her friends selfies she had seen earlier. Glowing, Ruby spent the rest of the time waiting for her friends by browsing through her social feed and debating posting it.

Does she do anything with the selfie?
