Chapter 10
by Shadow_Cat
Where do you bunk for the night?
That tall grass looks comfy...
Starry, Starry Night
After walking the surrounding area a bit, you come across a small stretch of open field. The break in the forest is, at best guess, a kilometer or two of high grassland. The blades of grass give off a dark red tint as the setting sun final rays pass through them. You examine the far tree line and note a small gap in the vegetation, likely a stream. You decide that the grass would conceal your form well from prying, purple eyes, and due to the amount of grass, you'd easily be able to hear someone or something approach. With one last glace at the surrounding trees, you make your way to what you believe to be the center of the field for a good night's rest.
You find a cozy little spot in in-between thick patches of the tall grass. The blades are shorter here and, after a few good stomps of your foot, make a soft bed of greenery. Slightly disappointed at going to bed without a meal, you shrug away the empty feeling and settle in for the night. You back hits the makeshift bedding just as the last beams of light pass over the western tree line.
The sky quickly loses it's pinkish hue and night envelopes the land. You are greeted by the explosion of stars you've come to love. Many a lonely night after your exile you were able to briefly forget the pain of solitude and lose yourself in the vast sea up above. They shone no less brilliantly this evening and within moments, your eyes begin to droop. You are soon resting easily, blanketed by the glow of the moon and lulled by the gentle breeze through the dense greenery.
How does the morning find you?
