How do Things Progress from Here?

After the Quick Catching Up... a Little Adventure?!

Allen awoke what he assumed was hours later before looking at his watch and noticing the date read the day after he decided to be a foolish twit and put on a mysterious ring that began all this nonsense; the time told him he had been basically out cold a solid 24-hours. He quickly decided that making a wish, even secondhand like the one that put him on the floor, was a bad deal. He was in the middle of thinking the phrase 'I Wish' before catching himself and stopping that line of thought. The genie, he decided not to recall her name for the time being because his head was still swimming in the groggy mire he just woke up from, was sitting crosslegged, 2 and a half feet off the ground, with an amused smile on her face. Allen dreaded words out of her mouth.

"You had an entertainment program that starred a spaceman with a genie, the naming for her and her sister wasn't all that creatively amusing, certainly not as amusing as the creators of that program thought it was," she started off with an amused tone that also stated she was down to business, "and their barebones interpretation of Jinn culture, while mildly amusing for the first few minutes, was surprisingly accurate, especially in how dull and out of date politics are for us. While I am well-versed in such matters, I have always tried to keep them curt and brief in the past." And there it was; the first thing about the current age was a brief critique of a series that was decades old and had a medicore film with a surprisingly talented cast that was more about making fun of a remake or reboot of that series.

"You mentioned knowing the location of another genie before; how is that?" Allen decided to sidestep that entire conversation by bringing things back to something he recalled her mentioning.

"Oh," said Fidda with a surprised chirp and blink of her eyes, almost as if she was expecting the conversation to go a completely different and got blindsided when it didn't, "the sorcerer who crafted my ring and formed me implanted the knowledge of where in the world that specific Jinn was because he intended to use its power to make some very questionable wishes that were outside the scope of his power, and mine as well."

"I'm guessing their plan didn't quite pan out the way they wanted it to," said Allen, "given you are here and were in a sort of keepsake box for one of my ancestors."

"The sorcerer had tried once before, but the magical guardian of the lamp interfered with their designs, then wove magic and traps to make reaching the lamp even harder before banishing the sorcerer from the dungeon and putting up a ward to bar him from even getting near the dungeon and always pushed out if they did manage to enter via magic. After that, the sorcerer crafted the ring and myself and went looking for some unsuspecting doop to play as their pawn, but the child they chose just pawned my ring at a merchant's stall after they had almost gotten to the town that they would use to access transport to the dungeon that housed the lamp. To my knowledge, no one has gone in there and returned with the lamp."

"Really?" said Allen with piqued interest, then without thinking about it, he said, "I wish I could go on an adventure for that lamp, complete with appropriate attire and enough provisions to last a few days."

"I love it when a master thinks ahead," said Fidda, which caused donning realization to show on Allen's face, "so you have wished it, so it shall be." And with that, she clapped her hands together, and the sound of thunder filled Allen's ears.

How Does the Wish Manifest?
