Chapter 11 by TheArchitect TheArchitect

Pick.

Mystery box.

"Enchanted or not, everything should be on the display without exceptions."

As soon as Jen touched the box, the ribbon slipped off. As soon as she lifted the cover, the paper box itself started to collapse. Either the item inside was influencing it to let it out or it was just poorly made. The latter has not been the case so far, so the girl continued with caution.

Inside, there was a pair of beautiful red velvet ballet shoes with ankle wraps. Unlike the rest of the wardrobe, they did not have high heels — or any heels at all!

"Thank god. Corners have the best stuff, apparently." — Jen let out a sigh of relief and carried them to the bench right away, not even bothered by stepping on the cold floor.

Within seconds, the red shoes were on, covering her nylon-clad feet and lower calves. Jen tried to stand on her toes and found it to be incredibly easy and natural. She really wanted to try some ballet moves, but got herself back to flat position.

"Now is not the time. My boobs are still out in the cold and I would prefer them to not be."

"I agree. Them bouncing around is going to be inconvenient during the dance."

Normal walking was not as easy and gracious, but still way better than in the massive sandals. As Jen approached the wardrobe again, she knocked them over in an act of contempt. After that, she placed her shoe back onto the floor, but, to her surprise, she felt only her toes connect. The girl watched her foot standing en pointe despite her clearly remembering placing it flat. Under her focused gaze, she was able to place it down, still wondering what was so hard about it.

Then Jen's other foot twitched. She looked away, but was not sure where to put her eyes. Were the shoes doing this? Was that the reason they had to be contained away?

Was it going to get worse?

How does Jen manage this crisis?
