Samantha does well with her class

A couple of weeks pass. Samantha continues to dress casually, but appropriately. Her class excels as her tutoring sessions with Nate, of which they would've done about 5, and her natural talent for the subject help everyone in the class with their questions and troubles. The principal stops visiting altogether as he is satisfied with her efforts and the standard of the class.

In Samantha's personal life however, she's been feeling neglected. John continues to prioritise work over spending time with her. The few times they've gone out over the week have been cut short by him apparently needing to take a call then heading home to work from home. She confirmed that he wasn't cheating a couple of times as he doesn't password lock anything at home. It is genuinely work stuff but she still felt ignored.

Her work had been keeping her satisfied mentally to an extent though. The boys were eager to ask questions, have a conversation, ask about her day among other things which made her feel a bit better. And although she wouldn't admit it, tutoring Nate after class did provide a bit of a break from the grind and less time at home to think about John which at the moment was good for her.

It was a Monday, her 3rd week of teaching, and as the lesson ended and the boys greeted Samantha on the way out, Nate once again stuck around. You saw him last on Friday for tutoring and he generally gives it a day but it must be a burning issue from the weekend.

"Ugh finally I can call you Samantha haha." Nate said as he sat down in the front.

"Haha yep no worries Nate. What can I help you with?" Said Samantha with a bit of a laugh.

Over the next 10-15 minutes, they discussed subject matter as usual. Samantha dressed a little warmer since it was a colder day but decided to take her jacket off as the room heated up.

Another 5 minutes into their discussion as it seemed like things would be wrapping up, Nate posed a question out of the blue.

"Say, you're married right?" Nate said showing a sense of curiosity.

"Oh um yes. Why?" Samantha said confused at the different line of questioning.

"So actually, I have a biology teacher and she's not as helpful as you. We're currently going through anatomy and reproduction and well, what better way to get answers than to ask someone with experience." Nate said with a smirk.

The question caught her completely off guard. Surely he didn't mean what she thought he did.

"Nate, what do you mean?" Samantha said in a worried tone.

"Look, we have a great time together discussing our lesson content. I just want some help that my other lousy teacher doesn't provide. That might be something practical hands on experience could provide but we'll see." He said looking Samantha up and down while smiling.

"Um look I think your biology teacher will be just fine I'm not sure..."

"I'll ask about it next time anyway. For now I gotta go, see ya!"

Nate walked out of the room and left Samantha in a bit of a fluster. She wasn't sure what to think as she also left and headed to her car. Maybe she could help him? Maybe she misunderstood what he was saying altogether and it's legitimate help he was after? Maybe it was best to put an end to the tutoring sessions altogether since they were getting a bit close. These thoughts continued to plague Samantha's mind as she headed home.

John was out for work and so she was left alone with leftovers and her thoughts.

Eventually, Samantha relaxed and fell asleep alone, although not as easily as she thought about what to do with Nate.
