Chapter 8 by takacube takacube

Who did she become?

Your best friend...?

You looked through your phone for a few moments later on that afternoon, having spent the day with your boyfriend/mom lounging at the pool and taking in a light lunch that was followed by a short walk down the beach. It was more than a bit odd to be walking with him, not only because of the fact that he was in all appearances your mother, he was enjoying the attention that was coming at him from the men that were also on the beach. When you broached the subject, from the perspective of it being a bit strange, he just laughed it off and said that "we're on vacation, I'm a married woman but I'm not dead yet!"

With a moment under the shade of a palm tree, you took your phone out and looked at the pictures on your phone. Besides your dad and your brother, and your boyfriend/mom, you also noticed that there were a few pictures of you and a younger version of your mom, maybe no older than you were, and it puzzled you for a few moments. A scroll through your contact lists and the texts showed you that she was listed as your BFF "Maddie", which you assumed was short for Madeline, your original mother's name. Another few moments spent looking through your messages confirmed what you suspected: she was not only your BFF and in the same grade you were in, she was also the one that had broken the news that you had been cheated on. At least the room hadn't changed that aspect of your mom: she was always the gossip queen.

"Any word from Maddie?" came your boyfriend/mom's voice from behind you and you just looked up at his face. "I'm sure she has some more gossip for you, right?"

You just sighed and turned off your phone before looking slightly behind at the bar where a few of the men were checking your boyfriend out. For his part, he just had a smile on his face and as the two of you walked away, you couldn't help but notice the slight emphasis given with his hips, almost a slight sashay. "Keep 'em keen, I always say..." he laughed off and the two of you headed back to your room for the afternoon.
