Escape From the City

Outside the fortress walls, Mileena found herself in the city proper. It was a ramshackle sprawl of canopied outdoor shops and crumbling sandstone buildings. Before anyone took notice of her, Mileena climbed up one of the buildings and began leaping from rooftop to rooftop as she started to make her way out of the city. Suddenly, bells rang out from the fortress and guards began to swarm the streets. Mileena knew she had been found out, "Shit, I thought I'd be further away before they wised up."

Mileena hopped down into an alley and climbed through an open window. Inside the building, found herself in front of woman dressed in heavy robed attire. Mileena grinned under her face mask, "Perfect. Remove your robes and hand them over." She demanded.

The woman nodded, "Of course, Lady Mileena." Shen then proceeded to strip until she was wearing nothing at all. Mileena took the robes and looked over the nude woman with lust, but knew she didn't have the time for a tumble.

Mileena put on the robes and pulled the hood up over her head before looking at the woman, "Don't tell anyone I was here. If you keep this secret, I will grant you great power when I am Khan." The nude woman nodded once again and Mileena walked out the front door. She kept her head down as she traversed the sandy streets. She made her way to the city gate which had been closed.

Two guards stood in front of the closed gate and one of them spoke up with a gravely voice, "The city is on lockdown. No one leaves until Shao Khan says so." Mileena sighed as she tried to figure out a way past. She remembered a criminal escaping through a sewer grate nearby and headed to the alley where it was located. Once there, she looked past the metal bars of the grate and teleported to the other side.

The sewer smelled rank and dirty water with lumps of brown slowly flowed past. Mileena followed the putrid stream, hoping it would lead to an exit and eventually she came upon an end to the rancid tunnel. She walked out of the sewer and found herself at a river on the outskirts of The Forbidden Forest. She had traveled the forest many times and knew its danger well, but she had always been accompanied by several trained soldiers. This time she would be alone and as much as it raged her to admit it, the thought of facing these dangers alone scared her, but the only other option was to turn back and admit defeat and that was never going to happen so she pushed forward and entered the Forbidden Forest.
