Into the dark forest

You decided to go into the forest figuring that you might be able to find more interesting things that way. The forest appeared to be made up of fairly tall trees with dark bark and a few zebra stripped trees here and there. You travel through the forest, keeping an eye out for anything concerning. You find some good wood and bundle it up for when a shelter needs to be established.

“Nothing so far,” you say as you cut through the brush for a few miles. You did find a few clearings that looked like good places to set up a base camp but you didn’t want to set one up too early. Some contestants prefer hidden camps, others prefer easily defended camps, it depends on the threats on the island. Some contestants got wiped when their easily defended camp got surrounded and starved/burned out and others got wiped when they accidentally led a threat through the hidden path.

You start hearing a strange growl from somewhere to your left. Suddenly, a large wolf jumped out at you. Quickly diving out of the way, you avoided the attack but your supplies got scattered on the ground in the process. Thinking quickly, you are able to grab the frying pan and use it to block the mouth full of teeth.

“Not today you little bastard,” you say deflecting the wolf when it jumped for your neck. This continues for a while as you circle each other trying to look for any signs of weakness. The wolf made the first move and you did your best to protect yourself. Eventually, the wolf got tossed on its side and before it could recover, you bashed its head with the frying pan. It tries to shake off the blow but a second hit takes it down; seeing a small knife from the cooking set, you quickly finish off the wolf before it could recover.

“Easy…” you say sitting on the ground a bit tired, the wolf was able to get a few bites and slashes in. A few minutes later, you are regathering your supplies and repacking as much as you could. About half of your water got spilled and a good amount of food got stepped on. You used some of your supplies to clean and wrap your injuries.

“Here’s to the hard part,” you comment as you look at the wolf corpse; getting ready you skin the wolf and harvest some of its meat and its pelt just like you got trained in Skyrim survival camp.

Once done you packed up your supplies, stored away the wolf meat and pelt and continued walking through the forest. You don’t encounter any more wolves but you slowly become aware of a low beeping noise. Recognizing the sound from the show, you picked up the pace until you tripped down a sudden slope that the brush had hidden. You tumble down the slope until you hit something hard.

“That was fun…” you say sarcastically as you slowly got up. You froze as you got up as you felt a cold metal surface. Looking at what you hit, a big smile spread across your face.

“Yes, first character acquired!” You cheered and did a little dance before stopping after remembering you were being recorded/streamed (the show has a live stream for premium subscribers). Your face was still a little flushed as you wiped the pod’s window to see who was inside.
