Chapter 43

Who could the mysterious woman be?
All Heart
After the emotional rollercoaster that was yesterday, the morning feels weirdly... Uneventful. I realise that I got comfortable with our new life here quite quickly, but I must've missed the memo that nothing happens in this place unless there's drama occurring.
"Is it her?"
"No."
"How about her?"
"No."
"Her?"
"It's no one here, you think I wouldn't have recognised her if she was in our class?" Rosie growls angrily at my suggestions. The morning hubbub of our English class kept anyone from noticing her irritation, except for Ty, who seemed more happy to ignore the outburst. Smart man.
I lean back in my chair, ignoring the worksheet placed in front of me, it's almost done anyway. "We're running out of girls." I think aloud, honestly, I feel like I'm more curious than she is. Rosie continues writing out her answers, ignoring my train of thought. "It wasn't Sora, was it?" I ask, fully knowing the answer.
"I wish." She blurts out, before stammering to correct herself. "I mean, at least then I'd know, but no, it wasn't her." Aww, does Rosie have a crush on her new friend? How sweet... And easily mocked, but I'll save that one for later.
Time ticks by, and we're no closer to figuring out the identity of Rosie's mysterious lover. Suddenly, a balled-up note lands on my desk, I open it to see some rough handwriting stating 'Echo says band practice after school.' No points for guessing who threw this over, I give Ty a thumbs up and finish off my work before I go back into daydreaming.
I wonder if Andi and Echo had sex last night, without me? A pang of jealousy twinges in my stomach. Where did that come from? I mean, what does it matter, we're all together... I should probably ask them later, though.
Anyway, I need to focus, get this stuff done before...
I mean, if Echo and I had sex on our own, Andi would be jealous, right? That'd be normal, fear of missing out, that whole thing. Seriously, where is this coming from? We literally got together yesterday... I suppose... We never really set ground rules for anything... Hmm....
The bell rings as I realise I never finished all the questions... Oh well, guess I'll have to settle for being just above average today... I've got to speak to my girlfriends.
The class funnels out, with Rosie taking the opportunity to head to the library, and I go towards the canteen. I know Echo and Andi will be out of class by now, so it's a good chance to get things straight. Sure enough, I see them chatting on one of the tables, and hurry to join them.
"Hey babe." Andi greets me, with a smile, before noticing my disposition. "Is... everything okay?"
"Shit, you look paler than me, you ill or something?" Echo agrees, as I take my seat.
"I'm... Gonna talk for a minute." I state, before airing my thoughts, my concerns, my feedback, whatever you want to call it... Are we all a couple? Does that word actually apply to all of us? Do we all have to be together to go on dates? Is it the same with sex? Am I barging on their relationship? That kind of thing... A lot of things.
The girls are quiet for a little bit, until Andi takes my hand and smiles sweetly. "Ru, this is just another anxiety attack, okay?" She points out to me. Now that I think about it... The feeling is pretty similar, but I didn't collapse, no breathing issues... Has something changed?
"That, and you're a fucking idiot." Echo decides, being a lot less affectionate than Andi. "The answer to every question is the same; We'll figure it out. If the word couple doesn't work, then who needs it? As for barging in, pretty sure we already told you, we like you, as much as we like each other, nothing to barge in on."
Andi nods in agreement. "As for dating or sex... I guess that's an easy one, I don't mind if you guys have sex when I'm not around... I also wouldn't mind just watching once in a while." She reveals.
Well, this conversation got interesting pretty quickly. "Right, same here, I mean, dates too, I guess, but it's not like we didn't all hang out anyway." Echo points out. "Oh, apart from watching, I'm more of a woman of action." A bit of an understatement, but I'll let it slide.
"Alright... I guess I don't mind either... I really was just overthinking, huh?" I sigh, these two really know how to bring me back down to Earth. "So... Last night, did you two..." I lead in for one of them to finish.
Andi snorts at the insinuation. "We literally all had sex yesterday afternoon, I don't know what kind of porn you've been watching, but girls need rest too." She chuckles, as Echo grins smugly. "That being said... I'm free this evening, maybe after you're both done with band practice?" She adds suggestively, rubbing my hand.
I look at Echo who wordlessly shrugs in agreement, still smirking, leaving me unable to say anything except: "Sounds like a date."
How does band practice go?
