I Accept

Red finger and thumb snapped...there was a crack of thunder...and four naked woman now stood behind Lois Lane. They blinked, confused, lost, immediately tried to cover themselves. The reporter recognized the four missing women she had come to find, from their social media profiles. She knew each of their names.

"They are here, free and clear. I release them. Now..." Blaze said. "...your soul is mine!"

The demon smiled. She stretched out her hand toward Lois Lane's chest...and the reporter felt something move there. A kind of tugging...and then she gave a silent scream as something pulled free from her whole being. A white-hot spark that dragged itself free from her chest, and when it had left...Lois felt a hollow emptiness she hadn't felt since her mother had died. An utter numbness that pervaded her whole body.

The white-hot spark flew toward Blaze's palm...and that thin half-smile was on her scarlet lips as her talons closed upon Lois Lane's soul, to claim it as her own.

Yet barely a moment later, the lips peeled back to reveal sharp white teeth. The red fist wobbled. Small streams of black smoke curled up from between the clenched fingers. Deep in her throat, Blaze growled. Black lightning arced up her horns.

"No...that's not...your soul is mine by right! What is happening? Why is it..." Then the white eyes widened. "The sacrifice! You martyred yourself for them. Canny cunt..."
