The following morning…

The couple shifted around after a full night of rest, awakening one after the other with huge yawns. They looked at one another with smiles on their faces, just taking in the joy of one another’s company.

Adam turned around to grab his phone from the nightstand, only to realize it wasn’t there. He didn’t really want to get up yet, but he had to know the time. While he left the comfort of the bed, Asami was thinking of ways to more calmly bring forth the supernatural stuff happening all around her. All she had to work with was “a powdery substances”, and it seemingly could just do anything. She couldn’t believe there was any way possible to bring that forth with any sense of normalcy.

Adam had finally found his phone in his pants’ pockets. His mind filled with dread when pressing the power button did nothing. The device had run out of battery during the night. He went back to the nightstand to plug it in to finally get access to the time.

“Adam, how are you feeling?”

“Not too bad, pretty well rested, if I’m honest. It’s rare nowadays, but I’ll take it. And you?”

“I’m fine…” she whispered. She had to bring it up in some way…

Adam picked up from her tone of voice alone that she wasn’t fine. He looked at her and saw her gripping one of her arms, looking straight ahead. Something was up.

“Asami, what’s--” His question died with his phone blaring the notification sound at him, grabbing his attention. His fear turned into reality once he saw he was definitely late for work, the notification was a text from his boss asking him where he was. He cursed under his breath. After he sent a swift response, his movements became a blur as he tried to prepare as quickly as he could.

“Adam, what’s wrong?” Now she was the one worried.

“It’s ten already, an hour late for work!”

She could either **** the subject now, or wait after he came back from work. The job was really important for financial stability, but this power powder was out of this world.
