You'll Know What to Do

*6 years earlier*

Sounds of electricity sounded through the forest as you dodged electric attacks coming towards you coming from an Raichu. You jump up in the air dodging the electric current before you flip over, your yellow tail glowing white was you swing it towards him. The attack was deflected at the last second by a larger thunderbolt shaped tail. The two of them struggled for a bit before the Raichu knocked you away, though you did backflip onto your paws when you land.

You gritted your teeth as you lunged towards him, your paws coursing with electricity as you swing towards him, who dodges your attacks. You had to reach a bit further as you were a Pikachu As you and the Raichu battle, at the side, a female Pachirisu was watching the scene as she was holding a baby Pachirisu in her arms.

"You're doing well Rai, but you're unfocused." The Raichu stated, moving to the side before delivering a blow to your chest, knocking the wind out of you and pushing you away. "You're leaving yourself wide open for counter attacks."

You were panting a bit as you got back up.

"As a Pikachu, you should've been able to dodge that attack."

You grumbled as you were charging at him with quick attack. The Raichu charged as well, but his body was surging with Electricity as he does. You gritted your teeth and tried to do the same, with electricity surging around you. But while the Raichu's were in a cone-like tunnel, yours were spreading out; striking the ground and the trees, one in particular nearly hitting the Ele-squirrels. Your attacks collide and it lasted for a few seconds before the Raichu overpowered you, slamming you into a tree.

You slid down onto your rear as you wince in pain. "You have strength, but you lack the foresight to adapt."

You sigh from the words as you sat down and listen. "Sorry Dad."

"Don't be sorry to me, be sorry to yourself." he stated as you look at him in confusion. "Our difference in size should've given you insight to maneuver out of the way."

"I-I just want to know how to use that attack. You know it so easily!" You stated to him. "You even stated that you can tell that I can use the attack."

"And you are right, you can use the attack, but you must know how to use it. It's not a move you can just 'pick up and use it just like that.' You must feel it."

"I try to think of how to feel but-" You try to explain, but you felt a light bop on the head.

"That's the problem, you think. You need to feel it. And I can't tell you how it'll work, but you need to be patient and not be reckless." your father stated, showing how your attempt spread electric discharges around the area, even nearly hitting your mother and baby sister.

"Haaaa! I-I'm sorry!" You stated, bowing your head.

"Make sure you learn from what your father says. So shall we head home and have dinner?"

"N-no, I can still go for some training." You stated, but then you tripped on a stone and fell flat on your face.

Your parents looked at you in concern before they heard your sigh. "Maybe I had enough for a day."

*A couple hours later.*

You were sitting at a table, pondering about todays training when your mother entered the dining room.

"Everything seems set with your homework. Very well done." your Pachirisu mother stated before noticing your expression. "Is everything alright, Rai?"

"Dad tells me I can use it, but I'm worried that I can't. I can use other electric type moves no problem, but why not this?"

"Some moves take time and moments to get it, you may not see it now, but you'll get the moment." she stated, sitting down. "Though you're too focused on your strength."

He looks at her in confusion. "But isn't strength necessary to beat your opponents in battle?" You asked confused.

"Yes, but the problem is that you don't think about other ways to win. You can't muscle your way out of every battle. Might isn't always right. You need to think, move and maneuver your way into battles. Like how you handled those bully trying to hurt your friend a couple years ago."

You thought about that time some girl wanted your friend's toy and you stood up for her.

"I was surprised at that, but I'm also proud of you, not just for beating that bully, but for defending your new friend. You're not just strong, smart, and agile, but you have a good heart. Always remember, never lose sight of what's important to you."

You smile at the words as you hug your mother. You heard giggling and saw that Kate was in a blanket wrap, you smile at her as she placed a paw on your shoulder. "Now I think it's time for bed. You got school in the morning."

"Night Mom. Goodnight Kate." You stated just as you got up and headed towards your room, passing your dad who walked and sat at the table with your mother.

"You worry for him Noctim. I can tell from your expression."

"Of course I am Felyre. He's shown great potential, but he's rather obsessed with our exclusive move." Noctim stated, resting his head in his paw. "Even in those mock battles with other kids, he tries to use it, and he gets more battered than he usually does. Honestly, I worry about what could get him to actually use that move."

Felyre giggled lightly. "He'll be fine. He can be rather headstrong and eager, but he's still sharp. No matter what situation he finds himself in, he'll find a way to come out of it okay." She leans onto his shoulder. "Trust me, he'll know what to do."

*Present time*

"I have no idea what I'm doing!" you cried out as the Salamence roared out as he was in the air, trying to shake you off. When he lunged at you all, everyone leapt away while you leapt upwards, hoping to jump over him. What you didn't expect was him to soar upwards a bit, making you land on his back.

You were clinging on the scales on his back as he flies around frantically, trying to shake you off. He even started slamming his back on the cave walls in order to crush you, who manages to barely move out of the way from the collisions.

On the ground, your group were trying to avoid his large claws and swipes from his tail while striking at the flying dragon. Thanks to you being on his back, they weren't worried about hitting you as the others used their range attacks to strike at the Salamence, who roars in pain.

Hearing this, you focused your electricity through your body until you unleashed it, surrounding you and the infected Pokémon in a yellow glow. The Dragons started to thrash about in the air. You try to hang on as much as you can, but you soon lost your grip and fell to the ground.

You landed on your back, losing your breath as you wince in pain. You saw that the Salamence roared out, sweeping the ground and knocking your group back with the swing of his tail. The Dragon type was panting a bit, clearly having done a good amount of damage to him. He stares at you with hostility, clearly intending to finish you off.

'I-It's still going pretty strong. At this rate...' You thought about the move you tried to use before. 'I still haven't been able to figure it out though... No I have to use it!' You thought as you proceeded to charge towards the Salamence who swooped down towards you.

You gathered electricity through your body, starting to feel it spread throughout your body as you were about to collide at his head.

You leapt over his head as he opened his mouth
