Chapter 6

Do you actually do it?
No. Of course not
You gulp hard, and shake your head before keeping it low and following Vincent into the property. Just another missed opportunity perhaps. Though there should be many more chances later hopefully.
The place is massive. As you follow the signs, you are amazed with the many artwork, biophilic designs and grand sculptures that fill the house. The opulence and majesty of the rich, as they say. Riches beyond your wildest dreams. Sometimes you feel terrible, thinking of a life you will never have. Money, cars, girls. Here you are, stuck in a cycle of self despair and disappointment.
You reach the main party area, a wide hall with tables, a bar, connecting doorways open to the veranda which houses a huge pool, complete with gorgeous views of the scenery before you. The place is pretty quiet, as the party has not officially started, and you were early. Vincent taps on your shoulder, and winks again. "I'm going to go do my thing. You try to have fun yeah?" He says as he walks over confidently to a group of sexy women as they engage into conversation you can barely hear.
You take a seat by the far corner away from the people, a nice cushy leather chair. As you sit, you pull your phone out to browse Reddit as you always do, ready to accept that no matter where you are, your life will always be the same.
"Not a big fan of people?" A feminine voice interrupts your bored browsing.
"Huh?" You instinctively respond as you look towards the source. A woman, probably in her late twenties sits beside you. She wears a black dress that reveals quite a fair bit of skin, and her legs crossed as she sits are extremely appealing to your virgin eyes. Her perfume is quite strong, a little intoxicating maybe. She has an elegantly styled hairdo, and her makeup and posture as well as her demeanor invoke that of a certain higher social class of people.
"Not many people will isolate themselves so far away from the heat of the party, especially one like this." She laughs.
"I..." You stammer.
"It's okay!" She giggles. "I was like you, back in my college years."
"Yeah..." You nod.
"Where are my manners?" she places a palm on her chest and smiles. "Miranda Vaughn. Amelia's oldest sister." She says as she reaches a hand out for a shake.
"De-Devin!" you reply as you awkwardly return the handshake.
"I apologize, I haven't heard my sister talk about you before, even though we share quite a lot of stuff." she replies as she pulls her arms back towards her legs.
"Well... I'm actually just here as a tag-on acquaintance. I barely know most of these people." you reply sheepishly.
"For now..." She laughs. "There's going to be a lot of time to get to know them, and perhaps even..." Miranda sheepishly bites her lips. "Well that is up to you to find out."
"Uh yeah." you awkwardly reply.
"Well then." She says as she stands up. "I hope you enjoy yourself. I'd be on my way to settle some prep. It was nice knowing you, Devin."
