Uncle Mark Wants To See Kyle

Suddenly, as Kyle sat there blankly, there was a chime at the door. Kyle’s head turned to the mirror as he saw an image of Uncle Mark standing outside the door.

“Hey, Kylie, mind if I come in?”

Kyle just nodded and MARCI unlocked the door, allowing Uncle Mark to walk into the room, spotting Kyle sitting on the bed.

“Hey, kiddo, I know we didn’t get to finish our talk the other day, and you’ve been pretty busy since, but I was wondering if you wanted to finish it?”

Kyle shook himself out of his stupor, hoping that there might be a chance to convince Uncle Mark that he needed real help.

“Actually, I would, you see, MARCI has been making my life a living hell since I arrived and now she’s getting worse! She put these speakers in my earrings and now she blasts a noise only I can hear when I don’t do as she says!” Kyle shouted.

“Yeah, MARCI can be a pain, trust me, you can’t cheat on the diet that your aunt has me on with her around…” Uncle Mark chuckled.

“You don’t understand, I don’t want this, any of this, I just want things to go back to how they were when I got here!”

Unfortunately, halfway through Kyle’s speech, Uncle Mark’s phone began ringing and he stopped paying attention to check the Caller ID.

“Hold that thought, I’ve been expecting this call,” Uncle Mark put up a finger and quickly answered his phone. “Domo arigato, Nakatomi-san! Ohayo gozaimasu! Watashi wa watashitachi no gōi ni hijō ni manzoku shite imasu. Anata wa dōdesu ka? Subarashī! Sugu ni ohanashi shimasu. Sayōnara.”

Uncle Mark hung up the phone and stood quietly for a few moments, before letting out a yell of excitement.

“Wahoo!” he shouted.

“What happened?” Kyle asked.

“That was Mr. Nakatomi, a Japanese CEO who I’ve been negotiating with to acquire one of his companies for Gladstone and he finally signed the paperwork! This calls for a celebration! MARCI, make reservations for three at Le Chez Minuit tonight!”

“Wait, what about our conversation…?” Kyle trailed off as Uncle Mark left the room. “Nevermind I guess…”

Suddenly, Uncle Mark popped back into the room.

“Oh, Kylie, make sure to be dressed and ready by seven-thirty, we’ve got reservations at eight! And wear something fancy!” Uncle Mark exclaimed. “We’re celebrating tonight!”

“Huh?” Kyle grimaced as he realized what that meant as MARCI’s systems began to choose an outfit for her mistress.
