The Eagle Bar…
Happy Hour
They had come at just the right time, it was officially happy hour on a Monday Night and the whole bar was packed to the brim full of college kids, enjoying half price drinks.
Despite a lot of the people in the room being on edge for the upcoming exams, there was still a lot of excitement in the air.
Thanks to some courtesy texts from the others, Mark, Winter and Jackson were aware of the meet up at the bar and made it just in time for some drinks. They made their way through a crowd of people towards their friends that were all drinking together or around the general area.
The first people to greet them were Daniel, Ali and Miranda. Eager to know what the final result was, hoping it wasn’t anything too serious.
“So what was the verdict?” Daniel asked Jackson, looking at the crutches he was on as he hobbled towards them.
“Not broken but will take a bit of time to heal,” he replied, “Not as severe as it could have been.”
“Well that’s something at least,” Miranda added, politely smiling.
Jackson looked at the beautiful blonde and smiled back. He was thankful that after what had happened over the last few weeks that she was willing to let it all slide to assist him. He admired the way her large breasts sat up so proudly on her chest. In one way, it made him horny but all that cleavage on show was just another reminder of what he let go.
While Jackson went down memory lane, Mark noticed that his roommate Matt had joined them tonight, he excused himself from the conversation to go over and say hello.
“Didn’t know you were going to be here too,” Mark said, as he shook hands with Matt.
“Yeah Cassidy was excited to get out of the hall for a bit. Sorry we couldn’t make it this weekend,” Matt apologised, “How did it go?”
“It was Uhh… interesting to say the least,” Mark responded.
For his own personal sake, it was a couple of really good days. Sex, a lot of sexual tension, spooning and another threesome set up for later in the week if he could manage to pull through with it.
“Cassidy been staying in our dorm the last couple of nights?” he asked, well aware that the two were attempting to test themselves out as a couple once more.
He nodded, smirking as he asked him, giving Mark the impression that they got up to some pretty crazy activities over the weekend.
“Am I safe to use my bed sheets tonight?” Mark laughed, “Or will I need to be washing everything.”
“You’re safe bro,” he laughed, “I promise, nothing was done on your bed… I mean not really.”
Squinting his eyes, Mark tried to figure out what he meant by that. What did ‘not really’ precisely mean. Trying to break down what Matt was getting at, they were joined by Cassidy which stopped Mark from continuing that conversation.
“Cass baby,” Matt said, wrapping his arm around the brunette, “Having fun?”
She looked down, avoiding eyes, a little upset, something on her mind. Mark picked up on it before she said something but once she did, Matt’s face all began to drop.
“No, not anymore.”
Mark looked back and fourth from Cassidy’s upset face to Matt’s confused one.
Seeing the worried look on Mark’s face, Winter who came along with him to the bar in the first place, walked up to the trio, putting a hand on Mark’s back as she listened in.
“What’s wrong?” Matt asked Cassidy.
She huffed, shaking her head in annoyance, “Those thugs at the bar,” she said, throwing her head sideways, “Tried hitting on me and when I didn’t give them anything, they called me a dirty slut.”
“Where’s the logic in that?” Winter asked bemused by how they could call her a slut for turning them down.
Mark didn’t need to ask, he was already looking over to the bar and saw a crew of boys in red varsity jackets, loudly chatting and scaring off others around them. In the middle of the pack, shorter than his team of henchmen, Dixon laughed at someone’s joke.
Around his arch rival, he noted others such as big and buff, Leo Lennox and the more scrawny Justin Martin. They were accompanied by a couple of other friends that he didn’t know well. But if they were hanging around Dixon then that was enough to know that they weren’t the brightest tools in the shed.
“Alright, maybe we all get the hell out of here,” Mark suggested, knowing this would only end badly.
Cassidy nodded as Mark looked around them at the others near. He made a few head nods to communicate that it was time to split. Winter grabbed Miranda’s arm and whispered to her what had happened which she relayed onto Jackson and Ali.
Before they could escape the bar, Mark was stopped. While staring at the ground as his mind raced, Matt stopped Mark, putting a hand on his chest, “No.”
“What do you mean no?!”
“I don’t care who they are, nobody speaks to Cassidy likes that and gets away with it,” he said straight up.
Matt met Mark’s eyes and he realised then that this wasn’t the same Matt he knew months ago. There was a seriousness in his voice, anger in his eyes, this was someone wanting to make up for past mistakes.
Staring at him, he knew he wasn’t going to be able to talk him down. This was going to happen whether Mark and the others left or not. In his mind, he couldn’t let Matt go alone to confront them, he would likely be beaten to a pulse if things turned violent.
“Alright,” he said nodding, “We’ve got your back though.”
If he was honest, he felt a little proud for his roommate. For the first time ever, he was willing to stand up for someone he cared about. It might be exactly what they needed for their relationship to blossom this time around.
“Let’s go,” he then said before sneaking a glance at Cassidy.
The brunette looked teary in the eyes, touched by the passion he had to protect her. She and Mark were first to follow Matt as the others followed in behind them, Macca climbing out of a booth to get involved on this. Even Jackson on crutches, hobbled at the back, not about to miss out on this.
Chatting with a random senior boy, Jess called over to Mark as she saw the group walking in a pack towards the main bar, “Mark! Mark! What are you all doing??”
He didn’t say much, just indicated to her to come along which she did straight away, passing her vodka lemonade to the senior boy who was rueing what he thought was his best chance with the tease.
As Jess joined them, Winter filled her in on what had just happened. The whole crew was now here, all following Matt into what didn’t seem like would be a friendly conversation…
