Lauren's shaken identity

Lauren sank back down to the sand, utterly humiliated. She'd gone from the hottest girl in town (in her mind at least) and a local debutante to an underwear clad boy in everyone's eyes! Her identity was lost. She was no longer an independent, 20 college woman. Now she was a gay boy no one respected as an adult! It was such a switch Lauren's brain hardly knew how to adjust. She felt confused, embarrassed, and her identity was quickly eroding. She tried to reassure herself, 'I'm Lauren Adkins' she said in her mind. But if she was really still an adult woman... why was no one reacting to her being hopeless on the beach? How could they see her almost nude and think she was a boy?

"Well, let's get some ice cream." Vanessa said to break the tension from all the strange conversations the group had just experience. They all happily agreed.

"Come on Larry." Vanessa took one of Lauren's hands and tugged her along the the small kiosk down the beach...
