Her mom

It was around the summer time. Victoria Johnson insisted they go shopping together for new clothes. Alexa insisted that she was fine and didn’t need new clothes. She didn’t grow so what was the point in wasting money?

She wore her favorite pair of shorts and sure they were a bit worn and snug, but they still fit. Underneath she wore her old underwear with varying stains on them that wouldn’t come out. The underwear was decorated in unicorns and she considered them lucky because they lasted so long.

And her shirt was a cute old Harry Potter t-shirt she had gotten for her 10th birthday. She was 22 now.

“Come on, Alexa,” Victoria said. “We need to get you new clothes. Not these rags you wear.”

Victoria held Alexa’s hand as she dragged her into the big mall. It was the biggest in their area and often had people Alexa knew. “I don’t need new clothes. The ones I have are perfectly fine.”

“Alexa, you haven’t bought new clothes since freshman year of high school. You need clothes now that you’re an adult,” Victoria said.

“I’m not going to wear them,” Alexa insisted.

“Whatever, we’re still getting you new clothes,” Victoria said. “Now come.”
