The city gates

After a half hours of bouncing gracelessly on the back of the horse, The knight pulled his horse to a stop. He gestured to a city ahead of them.

"Behold, the Gleaming Kingdom!" The knight said proudly. "The most wondrous city in all the realms!"

Lauren struggled to right herself, awkwardly pulling herself off her belly and wrapping her legs around the saddle. She put her arms around the thoughtless knight's waist. Looking at the city, Lauren was baffled. Castles? Stone walls and a moat? What on earth was this place? The knight trotted his steed forward until they reached the gate.

"Sir Marlis!" A lookout shouted from atop the wall. "And who do you bring with you?"

"I bring the last hope for our world!" Maris shouted back. Lauren looked at him in confusion.

"Ah, you're quest was successful!" The lookout exclaimed excitedly. "Open the gate!"

The giant wood and metal drawbridge creaked to life, lowering with a rumble until it's massive weight settled before them. Sir Marlis set his horse forward and they entered into the city.
