A Feast of Flesh

Wilma enters into a familiar classroom. Professor Nygoltt is there by a table filled with food.

Wilma licks her lips. There is even more food than last time and it looks even tastier.

As she sits she notices a strange centerpiece. There is a cage with three rats. She ignores it and begins to eat.

She feels like a shark in a feeding frenzy, eating everything the table has to offer. As she finishes chocolate molten lava cake, she examines the feast table. Literally every crumb of food on it is gone, as well as the rats.

Wilma pauses. Did she eat those?

Professor Nygoltt grins. “You ate everything. Now relax.”

Wilma struggles to relax, but manages. She feels movement in her belly and wonders if this is what having a child is like.

She feels the need to take a large dump.

“Um. May I be excused Professor?”

“Certainly, not.”

“But, I need to…you know…poop.”

“You may do it here.”

Wilma is shocked. It’s becoming urgent. She rushes to the corner and pulls down her pants.

She pushes and a rat climbs out of her. She repeats the process twice more.

The need to poop is gone, but the rats aren’t. They stand there looking at her.

“What? What’s going on with them?”

“They’re yours, dear. They are part of you now and they will be loyal until the end of time. Try looking through their eyes.”

“What?”

“They are part of you and you may borrow their eyes. Try.”

Wilma focuses on the largest, gray rat in front of her. It squeaks. Suddenly, she can see through its eyes. She grins. This has possibilities.

She waves her hand and the rats scatter. Still she can feel where they are as well as she can feel where her arm is.

“You are an impressively fast learner, Wilma. Next class I’ll have a dog.”

Wilma isn’t sure if he’s joking or serious and he’s gone before she can ask.

She sits, wondering what to do with her rats.
