Oasis Learns the Truth

Oasis got home after her first day of school. Her sister texted a message saying she wasn’t going to be home.

“Ellin is probably over at her boss Rebecca’s mansion again just to enjoy the free gourmet food,” Oasis thought scanning the sparse refrigerator.

Oasis took a soda from the fridge and sat down to watch some television. But nothing was on.

“Why do we even have cable anymore,” Oasis thought picking up her phone and opening Twitter.

Just then she was sent a video from Clare: “OMG, did you see this? They’re saying the Sunny Day Mall was built on fertility energy Ley-lines,”

Oasis opened the video. It was Susie Robertson with the Channel 9 News.

“Dam they got her too,” Oasis mused seeing the reporter’s baby bump.

The video continued as the reporter entered the Sunny Day Mall and met with a well-dressed businesswoman also sporting a bump.

Oasis spat her soda out as she recognized Rebecca. Channel 9 News was interviewing her sister’s boss, Rebecca Queens.

“That’s right Susie, I am expecting. And as a soon-to-be mother, I found myself needing a lot of help. But Los Angeles is very crowded. I couldn’t find the help I needed without hours of driving. So, I built ‘The Sunny Bump! – Fertility Super Center’. The center is for men and women interested in Maternity Clothes, Massages, Physical therapy, Spa treatments, Maternity Yoga, and Lamaze Classes. It also has a Daycare and Smoothy bar,” Rebecca said gesturing to the giant entrance.

“That is a lot. But my viewers need to know, does this Fertility Super Center have anything to do with the recent localized Baby Boom? Why did you build your center in the Sunny Day Mall? Many believe the mall was visited by aliens or is haunted having been built atop Indian Burial Grounds,” Susie asked.

“I built my center where it was needed. Many women have been blessed with children in the Sunny Day Area. So, my center will help them shop, relax, learn, and prepare for the future. But with every small baby boom, many women and men are reminded of their own struggles with fertility. Therefore, I also registered my Fertility Super Center as a certified Fertility Treatment facility, Sperm-Bank, and Surrogate Agency. So, if you’re expecting or need help getting your family started, come to ground zero of the baby boom, ‘The Sunny Bump!’, where the magic happens,” Rebecca said before guiding Susie inside.

Oasis’s eyes were glued to the screen as the News Team was given a complete tour. Minutes later Susie shook the hand of a tall muscular man.

“That’s Luke,” Oasis shouted jumping up off the couch.

Susie was interviewing The Sunny Bump’s Health Coach.

“He’s fucking mom and works as a Fertility Health Coach?” Oasis thought in alarm.

Her mother came home late. Oasis got off her computer and met her in the kitchen.

“Oasis, thanks for cooking,” Himari said between bites of stir-fry.

“It wasn’t hard. Just some rice and veggies,” Oasis said blushing.

“Well, You’re a lifesaver. I was starving. My client Rebecca just opened multiple business ventures at once. I have been swamped with work,” Himari said heading to her home office.

“Mom, wait!” Oasis said holding up her phone.

“I know you’re fucking, Luke Smith. I heard you last night. ... And this morning he said he was Rebecca’s health agent. He claimed to be helping you and Ellin with the ‘Rebecca’s Maternity Modeling Phantom Pregnancy ****’. But Rebecca Queen’s was just on the news. She had a bump like you. ... And her fertility center … Luke was the Fertility Health Coach. What is going on?" Oasis said hotly.

Himari looked at the phone.

“Ooo, that broadcast was today!” Himari said excitedly.

“Mom! This is serious,” Oasis shouted.

“Tell me the truth. Are you using Phantom Pregnancy **** to be a maternity model on top of being a lawyer? Or are you just knocked up like everyone else?” Oasis asked pointing at her mom’s small baby bump.

Oasis got off the bus in a daze. She was still processing the news. Her mother and sister were really pregnant.

“Luke Smith impregnated my mom and sister over the summer. How did this happen? Luke is too old for sis and too young for mom. Besides Ellin is dating a college girl now … she is a lesbian … how did they both get pregnant? … and my mom’s too old for another baby. Well … not that old … I guess. But still, Luke must be some kind of pervert. He tempted them with his hot bod and great smile,” Oasis thought sitting down in her first-period class.

“Luke Smith …” Oasis mused.

The memory of his handsome face and sexy eyes made her blush.

“Shit, what am I thinking?” Oasis thought in a panic.

“Morning Class,” Ms. Fieldmen said stepping into the room.

“I hope you studied because it’s time for the Chapter 3 Homework Quiz!” Ms. Fieldmen said happily.

The classroom was filled with groans.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

“Oh, there’s the bell! Please review Chapter 4. And remember, that Channel 9's investigation team will be in the courtyard during lunch. Be on your best behavior,” Ms. Fieldmen said cheerfully.

Everyone filed out of the room.

“Ms. Kuno? You’re going to be late … Ms. Kuno? Ms. Fieldmen said waddling over.

Oasis didn’t notice her teacher’s approach.

“Are you feeling alright?” Ms. Fieldmen said tapping Oasis’s shoulder.

“What! I …” Oasis said surprised.

“Sorry for scaring you, dear. If you’re not feeling well, you should head over to the nurse’s office,” Ms. Fieldmen said watching Oasis pack up.

“No no I am fine. It’s just some family business,” Oasis said standing up.

“Okay, but don’t overdo it. A lot of girls have a hard time in their first trimester,” Ms. Fieldmen said frowning.

Oasis froze before following Ms. Fieldmen’s eyes down to her belly.

“Oh, I’m not … you know,” Oasis said blushing.

“That’s what they all say. But poof, next minute they’re showing,” Ms. Fieldmen said turning and waddling to her desk.

Oasis poked her belly.

“Sure … I … might have had one too many ice creams. But I am NOT! Going to end up like my family … and friends,” Oasis thought pulling down her shirt.
