Chapter 6 by Navdom103 Navdom103

What's next?

You’re already Late, Might as well go to your Locker.

I made my way to my locker a few yards down from the main office. I was already late I might as well get what I needed for the day. Out of the corner of my eye down the empty hallway I saw a bulking frame rushing towards me. Jimmy. He was speed walking down the hallway to what looked like get to me. I hesitated at my locker for the chance I was right.

When I saw Jimmy keep rushing down the hall I realized he was just rushing to get to the class. Maybe to try and convince his homeroom teacher to not give him the official detention slip as Janines late slip signifies. I stated praying this wouldn’t happen. Jimmy turned a corner to the second floor stairwell and was out of my line of sight. The hallway was barren save for me. I closed my locker and headed back to the office.

I slipped back up to the attendance window. Janine was still there filling out something. “Well?” I asked breathing heavy.

“Well, what? You got your slip and your friend got a slip just like you wanted.” She said

“Right but you think he’ll get the detention?”

“That one? Hard to say. Arrogant little shit tried to complement me to get out of it. I swear for a second he touched himself under the window while he was speaking to me”

He definitely did I thought to myself. Fuck if I stayed I could have seen it.

“But he’ll get the detention for sure. He’s headed to Ms Burton’s class. That bitter old bat wouldn’t dare let her hardass reputation slip to let someone like James Boyles off the hook.”

“Can you tell me who’s the detention teacher today, Janine?”

“Christopher! You know I can’t do such things” she said in a **** tone as she put a hand on her chest feigning surprise. Her other hand arbitrarily flipping pages in a binder. She looked down, traced her finger down the page and stopped when she found the information she needed.

“Ms Wilson” she said in a grim tone.

My heart almost leapt from my chest. Ms Wilson is the equivalent of some fairytale hag witch you were told as a child. Old, brittle, nasty woman who I swear to this day could still take a kids soul with one look. The bright side: Wilson’s old age meant she usually nodded off during these detention periods. I know this for a fact cause one time junior year I had detention with her and she fell asleep at the desk 10 minutes in. We all left early after signing the attendance sheet. She couldn’t say we left because she would be admitting she fell asleep on the job. Win win. The chances of this happening again today were inevitable.

“So you’re in for a real treat” Janine joked.

“I can only hope” I said back on my way out the office...
