Their second encounter

Chapter 5 by ldnldn

“Well, well, well if it isn’t the dorm’s streaker,” Amanda said to Evie, as she stood beside her with an armful of books.

“And if it isn’t,” Evie took a deep sight. “…the Pokémon champion.”

“Can I sit here?” Amanda pulled out a chair.

Evie glared back at her. “It’s a free country.”

“Wow, you are still salty about the bet?”

“You mean if I’m still mad that half the dorm saw me naked? That an outraged mother sent a picture of my ass to the dean to complain about my behavior on the tour?”

“That’s a yes,” Amanda sat in front of Evie, placing her books on the table. “Relax, no one got in trouble and we all had a good laugh about it.”

Evie lurched forward, slapping her hands on the table. “You had a laugh, I didn’t!”

“Ssshhhh! This is a library!” Someone else reprimanded the two women.

“Yeah, Evie. Keep it down.”

Evie went back to her seat and turned a page on her notebook with a pout. “Hmpf, you just got lucky on the match, that’s all.”

Amanda twirled a pencil in her hand, her eyes sparkling with a mischievous glint. “Nah, it was pure skill. But, if you don’t believe me, how about we play another game?” Amanda leaned forward to place a couple of dots on Evie’s notebook. “Ever heard of dots and boxes?”

“Of course I have, but I’m not going to play dot and boxes with you. I’m not twelve.”

“Of course not, that’s not fun.” Amanda smiled. “We are going to play strip dots and boxes.”

“Jesus Amanda, we are in the library, not our dorm!”

“Exactly, higher stakes mean more fun. Come on, are you going to pass the chance to send me packing to the dorm in my birthday suit? It’s quite the walk of shame from here to there. I would have to run out of the library, across the pool, the faculty buildings, and that annoying frat house before I even reached the dorms. You’d love to see that, won’t you? Watching me blush and squirm while I streak out in broad daylight across the whole campus?”

Evie opened her mouth but opted to bite her tongue before she could say anything. It was a horrible idea, and yet she could not deny the allure of having some sweet payback. Of seeing Amanda’s pretty face scrunched up as she cringed and blushed like a tomato. And there were in a secluded corner of the library, near the back wall. Theoretically, they could play all they wanted with no one being the wiser.

“Or do you admit that it wasn’t luck, but skill, the reason I beat you last time? Honestly, I can’t blame you for backing down after such a trashing,” Amanda kept talking.

“I’ll show you a thrashing, you are on!” Evie said, drawing the first line of the game. Amanda drew her response, and then Evie, and so on. The notebook was soon filled with squares, dots, and lines as each player made their move.
