An Abandoned Professor’s Room

With almost no help from the adults in his life, Harry felt he needed to increase his magical abilities. Unsure if Hermione would support his idea of learning dangerous magic, Harry decided to explore the often unnoticed areas of the castle alone.

Using a combination of his Invisibility Cloak and the Marauder’s Map Harry was able to hide from any Professors or Prefects while looking for out of the way places where magic textbooks may have been forgotten.

After what felt like ages to Harry, he came across a locked door that looked like it hadn’t been opening in long time in an out of the way corridor.

Using an overpowered unlocking charm, Harry was able to hear the click of the lock and slowly pushes the door open. Looking into the cracked open door, he could just make our what looked like instructions on how to cast a shield spell.

After casting a middling spell on the door incase it creaked, he opened it all the way and walked in before closing it behind him.

Looking around Harry could tell that the room must have been a former Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. Unfortunately for him all of the posters on the wall was information that he already knew and there were no textbooks around.

Dejected, Harry almost left the classroom, before he realized that the Professor’s bedroom might contain the information he needed to protect himself and his loved ones from Voldemort.

Rushing into the room, he gave everything a brief glance, noting it was covered in dust like the classroom and bereft of anything but a trunk in the corner.

Forgetting suspicion or safety, he rushed over the the trunk to get a better look at it. However, unknown to Harry the trunk was cursed with a very powerful spell that he neglected to check for in his excitement.

The touch based compulsion curse, unlike an area based compulsion curse was extra hard to throw off, because the touch portion of the spell gave it a much more subtle effect, and as Harry opened the trunk and looked inside the compulsion curse activated.
