Coffee

“A coffee sounds good,” you say and get out of the car.

The gas station is very large, but still somewhat run down. The most space is used for a large parking space for transporters. The gas station itself is just a few gas pumps under a high roof and a normally big shop for the gas, car parts, sweets and coffee. However, everything here is either rusty, has faded colors or is broken. One of the windows of the shop for example is just a tarp held in place with duct tape. At the side is a broken ATM. It was likely robbed and never repaired.

Eric focus on refueling the car. You head inside and look around. Unlike the outside the inside of the shop looks clean and friendly. Despite of the broken widow of course. There are several rows with shelves where you can by some things for a car or to snack. In a corner are some seats where three guys take a break. You assume they are trucker. One is big, wears a red cap with the logo of a company and has a large black beard. Another one is a Latino about your high with sunglasses and a little too much gel in the air. The third one is also a Latino, but only as old as you. He looks similar to the other Latino and you assume they are brothers. The last one around is a shop clerk. He looks young, bored and wears a uniform.

As soon as you enter the shop you are the center of the men’s attention. This is not unusual, since you are a beautiful young woman. But for some reasons you get some threatening vibes from the corner.

“Greeting,” you say to the shop clerk, “how much for a coffee?”

“Two dollars, milk and sugar are for free,” the young man answers, “do you want a paper cup or to drink here in a real cup?”

You are about to say, that you just want a paper cup, when you realize, that you didn’t asked Eric if wants a coffee too. You could order one for him, if you want. On the other hand, you don’t know if he likes coffee and it is also not your job to take care of his well being.
