Chapter 6 by zankoo zankoo

Fast forward to the pre-weekend planning ...

Later that week (Thursday)

Abbie woke up on Thursday morning feeling a thrill of anticipation. The weekend getaway was almost here and she couldn't wait to show Jake all the outfits she had picked out.

Last night, she had spent hours trying on different combinations from her closet -- holding up tops and skirts, slipping into dresses, twirling in front of the mirror. She wanted to look perfect for the trip. Sexy but classy. Alluring yet tasteful.

Her roommates Rachel and Mark were around, but engrossed in their own things. Abbie had modeled a few outfits for them, hoping for feedback, but they just shrugged and said everything looked fine. It was a bit disappointing not to have their input, but Abbie figured it just meant more options to bring and get Jake's opinion on later.

She carefully packed the contenders into garment bags, taking extra care not to wrinkle or snag anything. By the time she was done, she had assembled quite a collection to bring to the office. Just the thought of revealing them to Jake made her shiver with excitement.

Abbie arrived at work that morning with a garment bag slung over each arm, drawing curious looks from her coworkers. She stashed them in her office, where the filled seemingly half the room, before she settled in at her desk, leg bouncing restlessly. Her eyes kept flicking to the clock, waiting for Jake to get in.

To pass the time, she tried to throw herself into mundane tasks - filing expense reports, responding to emails, tidying her desk. But her mind kept wandering to the trip, imagining all the fun and exciting possibilities in store for her and Jake.

Finally, a little after 9 am, she spotted Jake walking in, his bag slung casually over his shoulder, an easy smile on his handsome face. Abbie's heart fluttered at the sight of him. She waited a few agonizing minutes, not wanting to seem too eager, before popping up from her chair and striding over to his cubicle.

"Hey Jake," she said brightly, perching herself on the edge of his desk. "I have a little favor to ask. Do you think you could meet me in the conference room later, maybe around 4:30?"

Jake looked up at her, his eyebrows raised in curiosity. "Sure, what's up? Is everything okay?" He couldn't help but find something about her absolutely adorable in this moment, sitting casually on the edge of his desk, legs gently crossed, one foot wiggling with bottled-up energy.

"Oh yes, everything's great," Abbie assured him with a grin. "I just need your opinion on a few things for the trip this weekend. I want to make sure I have the right outfits."

A slow smile spread across Jake's face, his brown eyes sparkling with intrigue. "I see. Well, I'd be more than happy to provide my expert fashion advice. 4:30 it is."

"Perfect." Abbie hopped off his desk, feeling a rush of nervous excitement. "I'll see you at 4:30."

"4:30," Jake repeated, unable to resist his broadening smile.

Abbie bit her lip. "In the conference room."

Jake nodded. "In the conference room."

With a cute spin that left her short hair bouncing behind her, Abbie giggled and strode back to her office.

Note: You can read about the fashion show she gives to Jake, or assume it all happened and skip past it to when they return to Abbie's office.

Do you want a fashion show, or skip to the end of the day?
