Chapter 268 by Johnrocker Johnrocker

What's next?

Sunday brunch

Disappointed with the way things went, Mark sat outside on Sunday, drinking a coffee and thinking about what happened.

With Jackson making a fool of himself, Mark was quite annoyed with him. His phone had gone off multiple times that morning, many text messages from his cousin, Daniel and Tiffany. He ignored them all, not in the mood at the current time.

“Where the fuck have you been??” he said annoyed, taking a seat at his outside table, “I’ve messaged you like five times.”

“Oh so you can ignore me last night but when I ignore you, you’ve got a problem with it,” Mark said annoyed.

He huffed, clearly not impressed with his own actions from the night before. It didn’t end well with Miranda entering the eagle nest at the worst time.

“She’s not going to forgive you anytime soon,” Mark told him.

He fidgeted with the case of his iPhone, “Fuck.”

“You know Bryce used to date Miranda yeah?” Mark told him, “That’s why he was messing with you last night, trying to get you to mess around with someone else.”

Jackson shrugged, “I don’t know, I sort of knew, didn’t think he would be vengeful or anything.”

“Well he can be,” Mark warned him, “You don’t know him like I do, he’s complicated, not someone you want to piss off and you’ve done that already.”

Jackson shook his head to himself, frustrated with everything that went down. He put his hands to his head, using his fingers to rub his tired eyes.

“We had a plan going in there and you didn’t help whatsoever, you do know that right?” he asked his cousin.

“Yeah, yeah, I get that,” he replied, “But come on dude, this whole thing was just a bad idea.”

“Actually it wasn’t!” Mark snapped back.

“Why? Because it was Tiffany’s? What are you still in love with her… fucking hell…”

Mark clenched his fist, more than annoyed, “You had one drink tipped over you last night, you want another? This one’s still hot too…”

His cousin looked at the coffee cup in his hand and put his hands up in defence, “Sorry… sorry… I’m just taking out my anger on you, I shouldn’t be.”

Mark relaxed a bit in his seat, wondering to himself if he would have ever actually thrown the cup. He was probably more prepared to do it to his cousin considering it was similar to the sort of things they would do to each other when they were children.

“What are we meant to do now anyways?” Jackson asked him.

Mark shrugged, not having the answers, “I don’t know, we’ll work it out on Tuesday when the group meets up again.”

Groaning, Jackson put his hands to his head, not excited with the idea of another meeting, especially in the same room as Miranda and a few of her close friends.

“Look, you’re just going to have to apologise and move on,” Mark told him, getting up from his seat, “Whatever drama the two of you are going through, you need to get over it for the sake of the cause.”

Leaving his hungover cousin, Mark felt a bit of relief not to be the one sitting in the relationship hot seat this time.

The next meeting…
