The families' traitors...
Driving through the city that day was like visiting an abandoned cemetery. It was completely empty, and if there was a passerby, it had a grave face and hollow gaze, like a spectre.
"It happened everywhere!", Romea said in a startled voice from the passenger seat, "They're buzzing about it on all social media."
"At least it will be easier to explain this to the parents", Julius turned cabriolet towards the mountains, along the road to the Montane estate.
They both did not know whether that information was encouraging, or caused more problems. The only thing the couple were sure was that both families were able to bite each other's throats off about even smaller events.
As Romea and Julius entered the mansion, they found screams, screeches and offensive words already in the vestibule. By the time they got to the head of family's office, it sounded more like a zoo than a human-level conversation.
"You masonic charlatans! It is your devil's trick, you followers of the triangular eye!", Lady Montane shouted out loud, citing every rumor that was circulating about the Caput household, "I can't even go to refresh myself, without the damn snake's eye looking out of my dress!"
"Don't blame your plots on us, swineherds!", Lord Caput was indignant, but unable to stand firm, because of the fairly solid breeze between his thighs, "Do you really think I wanted to replace my sword with a scabbard?"
"My Lady, and you, my Lord, please calm down", friar Laurence, a friend of both houses, raised his arms in a gesture of conciliation, "Your children have arrived."
The young couple was greeted with a cold stare, like triators to both families. Each of them went to the sites held by thier own parent.
"Oh no, you too, my child", Lady Montane howled in horror, brusquely patting her daughter in the private sphere, "You goddamned freemasons will pay for my offspring's sex change!"
The quarrels were heated anew, with multiple forces on both parties. The separated lovers only looked at each other sadly, glancing from time to time at the friar to say something. The monk finally took a pity on them.
"Please, good people of both households. It's nobody's fault. Sometimes the paths of fortune take a different roads to destiny", Laurence was a holy middle ground for both sides, so they could moderate the argument by not admitting defeat to the other verge, "We must view it as opportunity to follow the right trail, not a curse."
Lady Montane and Lord Caput did not belive in friar's words at all, but only thanks to them they could snap away and walk out, pretending that they could win this fight, but the monk stopped them right before.
"There's no place like home", Romea shook her head, and Laurence spread his hands out in a manner of bewildered savior.
