Chapter 21

What happens next? Another spy or the morning?
A new morning
The morning rays of the sun drifted into the room, and the songs of birds started to reach her ears. Along with the pressure of something on her chest. Kendra blinked her eyes open and started to focus. It was just one of her cats who shot her a meow as it go up and leaped of the bed. She looked around and saw that she was alone. Her partner from last night was nowhere to be seen. If it wasn’t for the messy bed and morning after smell, Kendra would have just assumed it was all a dream. Maybe it was and she just had one heck of a wet dream, or perhaps a series of them. . Not likely but where was Alex it that was the case?
A quick shower to just get rid of the remains of last night, Kendra tossed on a robe and headed off to the kitchen. While the estate was nice, the distance was probably going to get annoying at some point. And it was a sore walk to get breakfast after all the activity yesterday, both in the gym and in the bed. Her cats joined her for this but… the Spies hadn’t shown up yet. Which was curious and a tad worrisome. Kendra worried that Alex was upset with her, or the other spies had found out. Their absence didn't as long as when she turned from the fridge with a milk carton, the trio was there waiting for her at the table. Clover already dressed, Sam as only in a robe and her hair still a tad fuzzy from sleep(or lack of it) along with her laptop bag, and Alex wore another set of work out clothes. The top and bottom where different colors and brands, so she must have thrown them on in a hurry or without a care.
More noticeable was their moods. Sam seemed mixed with an annoyed look and slumped shoulders. Alex was jumping looks from one friend to the other, but to Kendra she never really looked at her directly. The huge blush she got was also telling. Clover was red though, and Kendra could hear the foot tapping. Sitting down at the table with them, the cartoonist has a feeling she knew what this was about but better to get this over with.
Pouring the milk into her cereal bowl and taking a spoonful of t it, slowly chewing to draw it out just a bit longer; now was about as good as she was going to get. Swallowing she looked up from her bowl towards the girls. “Morning. No breakfast today, sorry. Is there a problem today?”
“You slept with Alex.” Sam bluntly said getting straight to the point with a sigh and hand on her temple. She slowly shook her head before the blonde followed up.
“You fucked Alex.” Clover seethed out. One could feel the heat from her words, and the glare could probably rip apart curtains if aimed at them. Before she could really get the hate going, a slight awkward giggle came. The trio turned to look at Alex who had a bright blush on her face.
“Yeah…, fucked me real gooood too.” Alex said, running a hand down the back of her head and neck, shuffling in her chair as she remembered the night before. While the tanned spy hadn’t looked her in the eyes yet, Kendra took her words as a good sign and quickly followed it with a question. Just to keep Clover from starting in on her disdain.
“Last night was... rather amazing yes. But…,”Kendra paused to chew again, and then pointed her spoon at the other two women, a frown forming “That aside how’d you two find out? Alex doesn’t strike me as the type of girl to brag.” Kendra’s memories of the show was that Clover would and Sam might at times. Alex would probably just be an adorable mess like she was now.
“You haven’t realized it have you?” Sam asked. When the look she got answered that question, the red head sighed again , putting her head into her hand. “Check your hand.” Came the follow up.
Looking down, Kendra noticed the band. How she didn’t see or feel before now was something that escaped her. But there it was, a large and detailed ring, made to fit seemingly three gemstones. Two of the sockets for gems were missing, but the gold band already had a yellow stone on it. Kendra snapped her head up to stare at Alex, who presented her own. A matching band in yellow with a white gem.
“When she snuck out of the bedroom, we eventually caught up to her.” Clover explained, her brow furrowed and arms folded. Kendra couldn’t help but note how her forearms cupped her breasts just right. “So picture our surprise when we saw the ring. Alex didn’t know were it came from but Sam was able to figure out.” The blonde finished in a huff, nose upturned.
“That said,” Sam started as she got her laptop out of the travel bag she had and placed it on the table, starting to tap away at the keyboard. “We tried removing it. And were successful each time though with effort.”
“Wait each time.” Kendra asked, confused by the noting of multiple tries.
“Yesssss…,” Sam said out, sounding just so defeated and done with the whole thing. In an exasperated way that was, not depressive. With a deep breath, and rubbing a hand through her hair, the red haired spy continued, “The ring exhibits magical properties or reality bending abilities. Meaning..,” Sam stressed, cutting off the question In Kendra’s throat, “.., the ring returns back to Alex’s finger. Regardless of what we did or tried. Even destroyed, it just re appears.”
Sam took another long and deep sigh as she spun her computer towards Kendra. The screen had several legal looking documents. As the older woman scanned them, she noted to names in all of them. That of Alex and herself. A dumb look and a raised eyebrow told Alex what to say next.
“Marriage certificates. Bank agreements, property ownership, census, taxes; everything Mrs Gray.” Said explained, leaning forward and tapping a finger in the ring the cartoonist had, “By the laws and understanding of this land, for all intents and purposes; this country considers you two married.”
“I…, but…” Kendra states to sputter as she scratched the side of her head. She knew or figured that the Cupid group was at this point all powerful and able to do basically do what they wanted. But she hadn’t expected full fledged legal binding marriage. Part of her had just assumed it would be a longer dating experience or some test trial for a relationship. After all it was just crazy to assume that two people would agree to marry out of the blue like that. And it was one thing to have flashes of images of a happy future with Alex after coming down from Cloud 9 but now being confronted with all the legal ramifications..., it was another shock to say the least.
“Sammy’s pretty sure the documents are not only on the up and up and legally binding,” Clover started up with her icy tone, breaking Kendra out of her own thoughts, “But also the papers would probably be legal or change to reflect whatever world this stupid house takes us to. Since she brought up magic when talking about it too, any magic stuff probably counts you as married too.”
A heavy silence settled on the room as each woman mulled the matter over in their heads. Clover's anger, Sam's annoyance, Alex's confusion, and Kendra's shock; a irate mixture of emotions that threatened to crack the stillness. With a heavy sigh, Kendra started talking, turning her attention towards Alex.
"Alex. I think you're a wonderful girl.... and last night was clearly a mistake." Alex moved to speak but Kendra held up a hand to stop her, "No. Alex. Let me talk. Last night was... a pleasant mistake. You're a wonderful, beautiful girl but you deserve so much more than a one night stand. And it wasn't right for me to take advantage of how worked up we both seemed to be." Kendra reached over to gently hold Alex's hands, her thumb glancing over the Spy's new ring. "Honestly, I never really considered marriage much but..., god I don't know. I've always been bad with words." Kendra weakly smiled.
"You deserve to be happy Alex. All of you girls do. Last night I just... skipped ahead on that happiness. Alex..., I don't know about marraige. That's a LOT of sudden commitment to ask for." Kendra looked Alex in her eyes and tried to give the warmest smile she could, "But..., after yesterday and last night, I'd.... maybe like to try and make you happy. If you don't mind.... trying to go on some dates that is...."
With that offer, the silence came back for just a moment.
Before someone Spoke up, but Who?
Cartoon Waifu's
Wedding bells ring, Birds sing, and Love seems unexpected.
An unexpected marriage between people from worlds apart. Yet, will this odd marriage last? Or will the two seek to break free and seek others out? Or will the two grow to love one another? Perhaps even more than just each other?
