Chapter 20

When does Helen put her plan into motion?

The following day.

Helen sat at the breakfast bar, drumming her fingernails on its wooden surface. She had finished a dreary day of work, spending the whole time considering whether messing with Adam was the right thing to do. Could she punish him just because he wasn't as enthused about the spellbook as she'd hoped? Helen had made the decision not to take things further yesterday and to sleep on it, but found she was still undecided when she awoke to her alarm. As she swung her legs idly on the stool it hit her. She had to use her magic to punish Adam at least a little. He'd made her spend the whole day thinking about what to do when she could have been using the spellbook's power! She'd mess with him just this once and that would convince him to play a more active part in testing its power. Her plan was flawless. She just needed to collect the remaining piece of the puzzle.

Helen lept out of the stool and went to grab Clive's tools from the shed. She didn't care if Adam wasn't done using them, she needed the excuse to go round her neighbour's house. They were quite a bit heavier than she thought, but Helen managed to lug them round to Clive and Donna's. She dumped them down in front of their door and rung the doorbell. As Helen had hoped, Clive opened the door to greet her.

"Oh, hello there Helen," Clive said with a slightly nervous smile.

"Hi Clive, I've brought back your tools," Helen declared, gesturing to them by her feet. "Adam finished with them last night but it was too late for him to bring them back round. Are you ok to bring them in, they're a bit heavy for me."

"Of course," Clive said. He promptly retrieved the tools and placed them inside his porch. "Would you like to come in for a cup of tea?"

"I was actually hoping you'd come round mine if that's alright?" Helen prepared the trojan thoughts spell in her mind in case Clive needed a little nudge.

"Oh, that would be nice, thank you. Donna is out with some of her church friends so that would be lovely."

"Great!" Helen said with a grin.

"So you're a witch then?" Clive asked tentatively. Helen had taken him into the kitchen to have their cups of tea, and they were both sitting at the breakfast bar. Rather than explain that she indeed was a witch thanks to her magic spellbook she had recently purchased, Helen had imprinted these thoughts into her neighbour's mind. She couldn't be bothered to tell him in full and go through the process of proving it.

"That's right," Helen affirmed, "and you're happy to be playing a part in my little scheme to get Adam back?"

Clive scratched his chin awkwardly before sipping at his tea. He looked Helen in the eyes, but quickly looked away.

"Clive?" the young witch pressed, wanting confirmation from her neighbour without having to send further thoughts into his mind.

"Of course Helen, it's just..." Clive trailed off.

"Yes, Clive?"

"Well, won't Adam be upset and confused about this?"

"Probably," Helen laughed. "But that's sort of the point. Don't you think it's mean of him to not want to experiment with my new magic?"

Clive looked to be considering this for a moment before nodding. "Oh yes, mistress, I suppose you're right."

"Mistress?" Helen said with a raised eyebrow. "Did you just call me mistress?"

The middle aged man's face went a little pale and he sipped at his tea again, not looking Helen in the eye.

"Well I like it," Helen declared. "From now on, you will call me mistress when it's only the two of us." To ensure that her wishes were complied with, Helen wove the spell inside her neighbour's mind.

"Yes mistress," Clive agreed. Helen had to admit to herself she rather liked having a thrall, bent to her command. She could get used to it.

After a few more minutes of waiting, Helen heard a key at the door. She readied the spells in her mind and kept her eyes on the threshold of the kitchen. She was going to hit Adam with her magic immediately. It would be better that way.

"Oh, hello-" was all Adam was able to say before the beam of light hit him squarely in the chest. Helen wrapped the shining rope around her wrist and pulled with all her might. At the same time she yanked Clive's spirit out with a similar glowing rope and then crossed over her arms sending the men's spirits rushing past each other. With a pushing motion, she sent the ropes and the spirits attached diving into the others body. After a snap of her fingers it was done.

Helen looked over to where 'Clive' was sitting and couldn't help but cackle as she saw the look of pure confusion on his face.

"What the fuck happened?" 'Clive' said in a panic, clutching at his face and body with his hands. He looked across to Helen before turning to look at 'Adam'. "Why am I here when my body is over there?"

"Oh Clive," Helen tutted. "You are silly. Let me assure you that you are in the right body. That's my boyfriend, Adam, over there, not you." Helen felt her mind surge with power as she cast the second of her spells. The strange words seemed to flow easily off her tongue, and within seconds the Thespian Binding spell was cast. Adam would play the role of Clive whether he wanted to or not.

"Ah yes, silly me," 'Clive' said calmly. But his eyes told a different story. Behind them, Helen could see the sheer panic and confusion her boyfriend was experiencing. A chill shivered through her body. She had never felt so powerful and in control.

Helen almost jumped up out of her seat and danced over to where 'Adam' stood. She threw her arms around his shoulders and planted a kiss on his lips. 'Adam' eagerly accepted the kiss and let his hands fall down to rest on Helen's pert backside.

"I'd better leave you two lovebirds to it," came 'Clive's' voice from the other side of the kitchen.

Helen broke off the kiss and guided 'Adam' out of the way to let 'Clive' pass.

"Sorry Clive," Helen giggled. "I can't keep my hands off of him sometimes. We'll see you later."

Helen walked with 'Clive' to the door and waved him out. As he left, Helen could still sense the confusion emanating from his eyes. 'Poor Adam,' she thought. 'If only he'd taken more interest in my magic.'

Closing the door, Helen turned to see 'Adam' standing behind her checking himself out in the mirror. He was flexing his arms and feeling his toned stomach, but quickly his hands slipped below his waistline.

"I see you're getting yourself comfortable in my boyfriend's body there, Clive," Helen laughed.

"I am indeed, mistress," Clive agreed, apparently unfazed that Helen was watching him explore his new body.

"Well, since you've been such a good boy and done what I've asked of you, why don't you tell me what you'd like to do now you're Adam?"

What does Clive want to do?
