Post game…
Chiefs win
“And they have done it!! Chiefs win the Super Bowl in Miami!”
Heartbreak at West Hall.
The room was dead silent, except for a few people yelling at the projector screen in disgust or complaining about the referees.
It didn’t really matter though, they couldn’t blame the refs for what had happened in the las quarter of the match. Things were looking great with a ten point lead in the last quarter but the Chiefs ran them down with Patrick Mahomes stealing the show.
At the front of the room, Mark, Ali and Jackson all sat there in stunned silence. It felt like just moments ago that they believed they were going to be walking away as the Super Bowl Champions. Unfortunately, they would be going home upset as runner ups.
The mood of everyone was ruined.
“Well… that was shit,” Jackson finally said, breaking the tense silence between the three.
“Can we just get out of here,” Ali replied, almost as if she was about to tear up at the result.
Mark who was certainly disappointed at losing, was not as bothered as the other two, he was more concerned about what would happen tonight.
He was worried this would come down to a contest between him and Jackson of who would spend the rest of the night with Ali. That along with a 49ers loss now made things complicated, it was every chance that she wouldn’t want to do anything with anyone after that.
“Yeah, let’s head back,” Jackson suggested.
Once again, it was like follow the leader with Mark and Ali following Jackson’s lead. They exited West Hall along with others who were keen on getting back to their own dorm rooms, no need of celebration drinks.
The walk was a quiet one, Jackson had his hands in the pockets of his 49ers varsity style jacket, staring at his feet while he walked. Ali was similar, not lifting her head as she moved.
The chances of her wanting to do anything tonight were looking very unlikely. But at this stage, Mark didn’t even mind, it had turned into just making sure that Jackson wasn’t getting anything. He was worried by how quickly he was getting annoyed with his younger cousin. The last thing he needed was competition.
“At least it wasn’t as bad as Atlanta’s 28 to 3 ****,” Jackson eventually said on the quiet walk home.
It didn’t make Ali feel a whole lot better and left Mark trying to figure out what he was referring to. He scratched his head, working out what to say, in the end, he didn’t say anything at all.
They just kept walking in silence.
As they got closer to home, they started to hear a lot of noise coming from the top of one of the buildings on campus. The closer they got, the trio started to realise that they were all Chiefs fans, celebrating their win.
“Fucking great…” Jackson mumbled as they made their way past the building.
They soon heard a couple of guys laughing from above, all three tried to avoid looking up at them, not wanting to give the fans any sectors pleasure.
“FUCKING ****!” a voice suddenly called down to them.
They kept walking, “Just ignore them,” Mark said.
“Your franchise are a bunch of fucking chokers!!” yelled the same voice.
Mark realised very quickly that it was Dixon’s voice. The one person that they didn’t want to hear from right now. He was from Missouri and was a life long fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The horrible person he was, yelling at people about a football game was just a given for a guy like Dixon. The short punk with his flowing awful mullet was screaming from the top of the building. It may have been hard to see who it was from down there but Mark knew his voice all too well.
“Mahomes fucked you all in the ass!!” another voice called out.
They were right below the building now, speeding up to get past them.
Unfortunately they weren’t fast enough…
From up above, Dixon and his friend dropped two buckets of cold water on the three 49ers fans walking by. Ali squealed as the water hit them, the other two trying to shielded themselves from being soaked.
The guys above laughed, high fiving each other
“You’re fucking kidding me…” Jackson muttered, standing still.
“I’m fucking soaked,” Ali whimpered, her body shaking.
Mark just stood there, trying to hold himself together. He didn’t need this right now, none of them did.
“I’m going to fucking kill them,” Jackson then whispered, trying to figure out how he could get up there and teach the boys a lesson.
It wasn’t going to end well if they picked a fight tonight. Mark didn’t want to appear to be chickening out against someone as horrible as Dixon but he also didn’t want to make anything worse.
Tonight wasn’t the time for that.
“Jackson, it’s not worth it, let’s just get back to the Hall.”
He was clenching his fist and something like this wasn’t anything that Jackson liked to let slip. However, Mark was persuasive and made sure they kept moving back towards East Hall without starting a fight.
What a disaster of a night… could things at least end of a happier note?
East Hall…
