Only a pokeball

It’s been half an hour, and you haven’t found any trace of Emilia. Your search isn’t aided by the sun going down, but you’ve walked the path to Cerulean enough times to know your way around regardless. Checking every nook and cranny is still taking a lot longer than you anticipated.

After some time, you reach an open area where the bushes and trees clear, leaving only some short grass and a good view of the sky. It’s a common rest area for travelers. Frankly, this is the first place you should have checked. You’d hoped to find Emilia lazing around here, or simply sleeping, but no luck. What you do find, however, is a pokeball lying on the ground. There’s no way to know if it’s Emilia’s or not. It’s probably just an empty one that someone dropped by mistake. Still, it doesn’t hurt to check.

You toss the pokeball, and sure enough, a pokemon pops out. A Dugtrio. Emilia does have a Dugtrio… It could by anyone’s pokemon, except for the fact that it warms up to you right away. He must still remember you from before you gave him to Emilia. That settles it. This is definitely Emilia’s pokemon.

You crouch down and ask, “Where’s Emilia? Do you know where your trainer is?”

All three heads nod, and with no further warning, he takes off into the bushes. “Hey, wait up! I’m in heels, you know! Ugh, he’s just as hyper as ever…”
