I shook my head.

"I... I think I’ll passh."

Speech was coming back, albeit slowly.

Mel nodded, looking a little bit disappointed.

"Oh, okay. L-let me know if you change your mind."

"Mel?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you... turned on? I mean, all this is pretty crazy... you gotta admit it's really... sexy."

Mel's face turned bright red, and her body seemed to grow more compact - her left arm reached across her chest and grabbed her right elbow, and her feet pointed in toward each other.

"I... Wow. None of you have been this direct..."

She paused.

"I mean... I guess sometimes you think about it... that way... you know?"

She looked away.

"I guess what I mean is - it’s impossible not to look at it that way but I've got a job to do and that comes first... right? I mean... I'm literally the only one who knows about all this. If I become one of you..."

She glanced down quickly.

"...I didn't mean it that way... I'm sorry, the last few weeks I've just become used to only telling people things... I've never been asked questions and I guess it’s just weird. Look, I should get back. I just received some solvents this morning that I'd like to test against the rubber."

Mel turned away and left, leaving me alone in the room. I could still feel the throbbing between my legs. I could feel it getting stronger. I realized that my arousal had never really gone away and briefly tried to remember what "normal" was like.
