Which book do I open?
The Pink Book
Let’s start with the first one. I reach over to the pink-covered book, praying that I find something within the pages. The first page after the cover is just a decorative, similarly colored piece of paper. I turn past it to where lined paper would normally be, finding something strange. The first page I find, to the left, has a somewhat simplistic drawing of what looks like an eldritch goddess, similar to the one I saw in my dream, with the phrase “The Calling” under it. The second seems to have a genuine ritual.
As much as I feel I should be happy, something still eats at me. This whole thing is such a major coincidence. It’s functionally impossible that I would just so happen to get the right summoning book for the right goddess from someone who technically scammed me. It seems way more likely that I was sent a fake book that some scammer tried to make look real, or, worse, it’s a legitimate book, but for a completely different god or goddess.
As bad as a dud book is, accidentally summoning a different eldritch being, that might not be as welcoming- or attractive- could trigger the end of the galaxy. My conscious can barely take ending the universe for a quick fuck, I couldn’t handle it if it was for nothing. Not that I would be around to feel much of anything about it.
Regardless, I have a decision to make about this surrealist mess and I shouldn’t take it lightly.
What do I do?
In a world where any famous person can own anyone else with practically a snap of their fingers, what fate awaits me? Or, for those into the inverse of that, some of the fictional universe paths have some… promising changes. Some universes, or options for them, alter to rules to give me the power. Many others allow you to take the identity of a fictional character and gain ownership over other fictional characters or have them take ownership of you.
