“Ah, he is awake...” I heard Kara say.

“He’s getting good, but it still is an energy drain.” Kylie commented.

“He’s wrecked...” Kate murmured. “Like before...”

“He’s wrecked? What am I, then?” Sophia complained.

“Woken up too early?” Ella teased.

“Yes, by you!”

“I had to wake up my squad commander...”

“But not for a practical joke!”

“The best one are the ones least expected...”

“Are you two still fighting?” I groaned while sitting up. “What’s up between you two anyway?”

“Sophia did something very naughty to Clara and me in the two months after our city raid. I am simply taking my ****.”

“Sophia... You should have known better to disturb a sleeping lioness...” I sighed.

“It was fun... at the time...”

“Look, make it up, Sophia... Ella will stop after that, will you, Ella?”

“Sure, Alex, my dear commander...”

“Never any peace these days...” I mumbled. “Come, out, it’s my man-cave, Emma, you can stay of course.” I ordered when I pulled the blankets off me. “The rest of you, out... Nothing to see here...”

“Kate?” I asked.

“You too, Kate, damnit, it’s still too early for another round for you...” Kylie grabbed her arm and whisked her away.”

“Thank you, Emma, for staying with me.”

“You were exhausted, Alex. You were controlled with Sophia, but you exhausted yourself. Sophia is very happy now, but I am not very happy with the way you exhausted yourself. You need to think more about yourself.”

It was the closest to a reprimand I heard from Emma. She was growing too. She wanted me to change too.

“You’re right, Emma. It was a spur of the moment. She was...”

“She was in great need of you. I understand that, Alex, but you can’t please us all in such a short time period. You still feel pressured by the needs you feel with your girlfriends.
