Snap goes the mind

For a moment or two I was racking my brains thinking of what the two could be up to until the water and soap from my shower finally cleared from my nose, my sense of smell picking up something rather mouthwatering and delectable. Blinking a bit I raised my eyebrow, looking right at Mai, "You cooked?" Mai shrugged, hr perfect poker face not betraying a single thing as she responded, "could be, couldn't be." Rolling my eyes I sighed, Mai's patented exasperated sigh coming from my mouth, "Alright...I guess I'll just go into the kitchen and find out what smells so good."

Mai and Ty Lee watched me with expectant eyes...well at least Ty Lee's expression was readable, Mai as usual was a perfect stone mask of disinterest, oh how I knew ways to shatter that mask. Shaking that off I entered the kitchen, my eyes snapping open at the food that was present. Considering my shower wasn't too long they did a pretty good job of cooking up a decent meal for three, more than enough for leftovers and then some.

"Wow," I said with surprise in my tone, walking up to the table strewn with various kinds of food, from some sort of broth with dumplings in it to the pork roast I had kept in been defrosting in the fridge, "You two did a great job." "Oh did we?" Ty Lee asked, Mai's disinterest seeping into her tone as she walked in after me, "we thought it was something simple we could put together for you John." "We?" Mai asked, walking in after Ty Lee causing the acrobat to lose some of her artificially generate "Mai" essence, "I came up with it." "Well you can't cook," Ty Lee said with a smirk, Mai scowling slightly as the energetic girl continued with a proud smile, "so it was a team effort!"

With a sigh I broke the two apart, leaning down and giving each of them a kiss on the cheek to quiet them down, "In any case, thank you. This is really sweet of you." "No problem John!" Ty Lee said with a giggling grin, Mai simply smiling and blushing from embarrassment. In no time we settled down to a nice dinner together, all of us just amicably chatting with one another and bringing Ty Lee up to speed with what the future was about. However, all throughout the dinner I could see something was going on between Ty Lee and Mai, something that had I known better I would equate to planning. Their silent communications lasted only seconds at a time but I had a feeling that dinner was only the beginning for this surprise...
