Chapter 6 by JaneOfTheNight JaneOfTheNight

Are you satisfied with your introduction?

Push your luck.

Aidan goes back to tidying the light. You realize, embarrassingly late, that you're actually holding him up... but to be honest, you don't particularly mind in that moment.

Hey, you're in a new town, right? Why not flirt... just a little bit?

Harmlessly, of course. Get on the landlords good side.

"Hey, before I leave..." You start, your voice way more confident than it's been thus far in the conversation. You're not sure where this confidence has come from, but it certainly isn't the woman that was a house wife back in Larsville. You reach into your purse and pull out a pen and the paper that had your apartment info on it. "...I figure since we're living together and all, I should probably have an emergency contact for you."

He looked back down at you, and for the first time since the conversation started, you see a hint of emotion in him. Almost like his curiosity has finally crept into his features. "You asking for my number?"

Your heart fluttered a bit, butterflies at the realization that you had crossed that line. You were flirting, you floozy!

"What if I was?" You manage to get out, the slightest hints of a smirk crossing your features.

Climbing down the ladder, he wiped his hands on a rag that had hung from the bottom rung, and took the pen out of your hand. Leaning it against the stairwell wall, he wrote down his number, before handing it back to you. "If you're gonna call me, you better need me bad." It was a warning, like any landlord reminding you that they don't really want to be bothered for no reason... but the way his eyes pierced into you, you realized it was more.

And with that, he left, leaving you entirely flustered and blushing, ashamed... and somehow, all the more alive.

What next?
