Stay quiet and hope the problem goes away

“I said, is there anyone in there?!”

Thd girl crouched down to peer under the stall door. No feet.

“Someone must have jammed this thing shut.”

The pounding on the door grew louder as the girl tried to **** it open. Then, it suddenly stopped, and Anna breathed an inward sigh of relief. However, it only lasted a moment. The next thing she knew, a pair of hands was extending over the top of the door as the girl outside gripped it tightly. The girl started shaking it with all her might. Anna could feel her heart pounding against her naked chest as the rattling continued. She hoped the sound of the door banging drowned out her heartbeat.

All this time, Anna had been so preoccupied worrying about the door breaking open that she didn’t even notice what was happening inside the stall. It eventually caught her eye, but maybe too late. She watched in horror as the shaking door made the fabric scraps on the peg slowly slip down. By the time she noticed, they had almost completely fallen off. She reached out to grab them, but they were just out of her reach. If they fell on the floor, people would investigate, but if she stretched out to reach them, she might lose her balance and topple over. What to do?
