Courage

Rhian sat in the driveway staring at the house. So this was it. This was the house that Tim, her student, her lover, lived with his family. She had to admit that the pace their relationship had developed was dizzying. Yes, she had always admired Tim, both intellectually and physically, but as his professor Rhian had resisted. Once they began to date, through, everything moved at lightening speed. Sex, spending the weekend together, and now this.

Meeting the family.

In fact it was more than that. Rhian was about to meet Tim’s family AND his other lovers! She’d never before been in a relationship where her boyfriend was with other women, so this experience would be new to her. Of course she trusted Tim to make sure things would work out. He was her man, and he would take care of her.

But just how many women would Rhian be meeting? He had confessed about Nancy and her mother, and of course he was with his own mother (that went without saying), but Tim had hinted in his text about meeting a few more. She didn’t blame any woman for wanting to get with him. After all, she herself hadn’t been able to resist him. He was perhaps the manliest, most attractive man she had ever met. It didn’t hurt that he was also a flirt, sitting in the front row with his low-cut tops to show off his huge breasts, uncrossing and crossing his legs in his short skirts whenever he caught her looking. Yes, any woman would be crazy to pass an opportunity to be with Tim.

But as the field got more crowded, would he have room for his professor in his roster of girlfriends? In a world that holds vapid Instagram models the apex of attraction, how could she possibly compete? Her old self-doubt began to whisper in her ear. Just drive away. He’s too good for you.

She wouldn’t. Tim had told her to come, so she would come. He had a way to him, everybody knew about it. If he told you to do something, you did it. Normally it would have been a turnoff to Rhian to have a man be so bossy, but when her Tim did it she liked it. Loved it. Craved it.

And so she would muster the courage she needed to obey her boyfriend. Rhian was going to meet the extended family, and that was that. Pulling the key from the ignition, she took a deep breath and opened the car door. She’d has already been a long day at work, and usually she would be recharging at home, but not tonight. Tonight she was a kept woman, and her man wanted her. He had beckoned his finger, and so she would come.
