Chapter 57 by cdbaby cdbaby

What's next?

An apple a day

Aaron's weekend fared only marginally better as he watched bridge over the river Kwai, an old movie he and Sarah hadn't watched in years. He knew she only started watching them to spend time with him but he was still glad to have something to bond over with her then. Now they could bond over makeup and dates with men. Aaron grimaced and shook the thought from his head. For one moment he wasn't Erin, he wasn't his wife or a mother. He was Aaron and bonding with his daughter. It didn't matter that he was currently wearing girly pajamas borrowed from his late wife. Checking his phone calendar he grumbled that he wouldn't be paid for another week and a half. "I'll be right back." Aaron sighed and threw his phone on the couch cushion beside him.

Returning he sighed much more happily this time, feeling relief there was at least one thing he could still do like a man. A few short seconds later his phone beeped altering him to a text from Luke.

Officer Luke: "That sounds wonderful. I'll definitely be there." Aaron opened the messages and found someone had been texting Luke while he was out of the room.

"Sarah. Did you text officer Luke and invite him for dinner Friday?" He asked already knowing the answer.

"We talked about this remember? You were going to invite him for a home cooked meal. You know, like a nice girlfriend does cause men don't testify against nice girlfriends."

Aaron rolled his eyes, "I was going to later so I don't look ****."

"Mom, you guys slept together, you're both beyond that at this point."

"We did not sleep together! Well we did, just not like that!"

"Tell it to your dry cleaner." She laughed.

Aaron's phone chirped again. He sighed and looked at his smart phone and noticed it was instead a message from his bank notifying him that his card was now overdrafted. "What the...Sarah. Why is my balance suddenly in the negative?" Sarah twisted her face like a child with her hand caught in the cookie jar. "There's a very good reason." Aaron crossed his arms impatiently and pressing his breast forms up even more noticeably. "Well you slept with, fell asleep on," Sarah corrected, still rolling her eyes in disbelief, "And sooner or later he's going to find out by accident if you're not careful. Honestly it's a miracle you haven't been caught yet with the number of….'sleepovers' you've been having with men."

Aaron's face burned when she mentioned his sleepovers in such a dismissive way, "And what's this got to do with my bank account?"

"So, there's been a lot of development in fixes for this issue for women with a little extra." Aaron's eyes widened as he realized what she was talking about, "So I ordered you a thing called a gaff. And supposedly you can wear it for weeks at a time and use it for everything from going to the bathroom to having sex."

"I'm not going to use it for anything! Cancel the order and get my money back!"

"I can't. I ordered it rushed and that means no refunds. And this is going to help, you won't have to worry about tucking as much. I'm sure that can't be comfortable." Aaron shifted his weight from foot to foot, it wasn't comfortable but he was growing used to it at least. As much as that thought upset him.

"You still should have asked me first."

"Would you have said yes?"

"No."

"Then I was right not to ask."

Aaron rubbed his forehead with a pained expression, sure she was going to give him an aneurysm. "That's not how any of this works."

"Mom, I'm sorry I didn't ask but it really is meant to help you. When I get paid I'll pay you back. I promise."

Aaron sighed, "No. It's more important you save your money. Let's just finish the movie." So they did spend the rest of their day marathoning war movies, while both tried to figure out how to fix this new situation Sarah had gotten them both into.

The rest of the weekend remained uneventful, save for flirty and funny texts from Luke to Erin. Despite herself she couldn't help but smile when she saw it was him. In any other situation Aaron and Luke could have been friends and shared a beer at the bar every now and again.

Monday she woke late, having not heard her alarm. Erin rushed through the house gathering clothes out of the clean pile of laundry neither her nor Sarah had gotten around to putting up, preferring to relax for one weekend instead. Erin quickly showered, tucked herself away, and dressed before knocking loudly on Sarah's door. "Sarah! It's nine! Get up. I'm going to work. Love you!" She waited for no response and hurried to her car and drove to work as fast as the speed limit would allow.

She straightened her skirt before entering Brad's office, "I'm so sorry I'm late. I didn't hear my alarm for some reason." She said quickly to Brad as she sat at her desk.

"It's fine. It happens to the best of us." She smiled and thanked him, she always hated being late.

She bounced her knee nervously whenever Brad walked through the office to call for a patient. She had settled on a plan to fix her financial situation though she hated to ask for an advance on pay this early on in her job. Aaron sighed and ran his hand through his hair. At his age he had expected to have a better job than this, especially when that job required him to pretend to be a woman in full dress. 'I should find a better job.' he thought as he took out his phone to look for local jobs.

At lunch she walked into the diner next door to the office, the closest restaurant she could afford and get back before her lunch break was through. She ordered a turkey and ham sandwich and a small coffee. While scrolling through her phone once again looking for a better job she overheard her name in whispers.

"God did you see what she was wearing today?" The heavyset nurse asked her skinny friend.

"I know right? She's supposed to be working in a doctor's office, not a street corner."

"Where do you think he found her?" The women laughed hautily without a care who heard them.

Erin examined her clothes, she did note that her skirt was a few inches shorter today than what she normally wore, and her chest seemed more prominent thanks to the pushup bra she wore. The top buttons clearly strained against the increased size. All of this because she realized in her haste that she had taken her daughter's skirt and had to throw three bras aside before finding this one that fit. The stupid washer had somehow shrunk her bras. 'Ugh. What am I saying? My bras?!' Erin stood and threw away the paper plate and returned her cup before leaving to return to the office.

Brad had stayed in his office having a small cola while he studied a patient's file. A soft knock against his open door broke his concentration as he stared up at the beautiful Erin. He wasn't sure what she had done but today she seemed even sexier than normal. Filling his head with fantasies of the two of them on his desk. "Hey, can we talk?" She asked.

"I just wanted to ask about...maybe…" her voice faded as she eyed the cola bottle and looked around the office for discarded food, "is that all you've had?"

Brad shrugged, "I was busy."

"You of all people know that's not good for you."

'I've gotten used to it since med school."

Erin shook her head, "No. This won't do. Give me five dollars."

"What?"

"You need actual food." Brad chuckled as he handed over the money.

Five minutes later Erin returned with a wrapped sandwich and an apple. "Here. Eat." She commanded in the way only mothers could. He smiled and unwrapped the sandwich. Erin waited and watched partly to make sure the good doctor ate, and partly to once again work up her courage to ask for a favor.

Before she could ask she caught the tail end of a question, "-do you?"

"... yeah. It sounds good." She smiled nervously as Brad stepped around his desk. "I'm s-" Brad suddenly pulled Erin into him and kissed her soft lips once more. He had missed the feel of her body pressed against his and judging from the way she leaned into him she had missed it as well.
