On The Steps

You look up at the façade of the cathedral, your neck craning as you let your eyes roam ever further and further up the complex stone work, intricate stained glass and leering gargoyles. As much as things might have diverged in this world it’s clear that the church still managed to retain a lot of power.

At the top of the wide flight of stairs that lead to the oversized doors of the cathedral you can see what looks like a tour group forming up. The guide gesturing to the small group of tourists, the sign beside her advertising “Free Tours!”.

You could join the group, it is most likely the quickest and easiest way to get some info on this place but somehow you doubt you would manage to stand in a crowd of women, even in a church, and get away unmolested.

Maybe just heading through the doors and exploring by yourself would be the way to go?
