The Hero Class

John's head was filled with everything that happened today as he walked home. He got a powerful class, a target on his back, and a mysterious voice that talked to him when he got his class.

John never heard a voice talking to you at the class ceremony before, but he shook his head as he thought about how overpowered the Hero class was and smiled. The Hero class was powerful because when you get huge boosts to your experience speed, you get double the amount of skill points when you level up, and it’s easier to master your abilities. John checked out his class and looked at the abilities he gained just by obtaining the hero class.

Hero Class Abilities

Savior: If you are protecting someone, then your stats increase by 40%

Hero’s Growth: Triple the amount of experience gained through killing, training, and learning.

Extra Skill: Gain double the amount of skill points per level up.

Hero’s Determination: Immune to effects of charm or mental manipulation.

Protective aura: People will trust you more easily and have a higher opinion of you. The effect significantly increases if the person is the person is saved by you.

Dire Straits: Your stats will quadruple if you are below 10% of your health.

Protect the World: Deal 500% damage to anyone with the Demon Lord Class and take 50% less damage from attacks from anyone with the Demon Lord Class.

John saw protect the world and hoped that nobody on the demon continent had that class or a lot more work was headed his way. Let’s check what pathways his class is talking about.

John Wonderworth (Lv. 1 Hero)

Skill Pathways (Chosen Based on the Knowledge/Desires of the User)

Sword Hero Pathway- Follow the path of the sword and cut down any who stands in your way. There will be nothing that you can’t cut.

Bow Hero Pathway- Follow the path of the archer and snipe your enemies from afar. You could shoot hundreds of miles away with your eyes closed and still hit the target.

Master of Many- Follow the path that allows you to gain everything at the expense of mastering everything. You will have to use your intelligence and wit to use your increased arsenal of abilities to your advantage.

John saw these options and had a feeling that the pathways were just based on what the person was comfortable with. John was knowledgeable in the sword and bow so it was obvious why those were options. He knew if he wielded a spear instead then one of the options would be a spear hero instead. John didn’t wait since he knew exactly what he wanted. He clicked on the Master of Many as more options appeared.

(Passive) Sub-class: Gain the ability to have another less powerful class.

(Active) Gain the ability to teleport short distances (10 Mana per 60 feet).

Having the ability to teleport would be really useful and cool since the only people with teleportation are magicians who specialize in spatial magic. However, having another class is completely unheard of and he couldn’t even imagine the possibilities. John’s not getting any of the illegal classes since they scan people’s classes in certain areas, and he doesn’t want to get arrested, but he can get another class to help him gain a harem. Thankfully, Polygamy isn’t illegal but rare since most women don’t want to share their husband with other women. John clicked the subclass option as a list of different classes flooded his view. He carefully went through each class and decided on an extremely rare but less powerful class.

(Active) Copycat: Copy a skill that you have recently seen for 100 mana (Skills that can be copied:1).

John chose the Copycat skill so that he can copy abilities that would prove useful for his goals. There’s no telling what kind of skills he would come across during his time in the military. He could even get some illegal skills as well. The kingdom can only see classes and not skills so it is possible to hide it from them. John guessed that this thinking is more like a villain, but he never wanted to be a hero. It didn’t take long until he got home and saw a tall man wearing the Royal Guard’s white and gold uniform. John’s face paled as the man launched a thunderbolt in his direction. John quickly dodged out of the way. The man merely snapped his fingers as a blast of water pushed him against an earth wall that wasn’t there before. Great, he’s home.

“Could you not attack me immediately after looking at me, dad.”

“I need to make sure you were keeping up with your training. Besides, you never know when someone’s going to attack you.”

“Love you too,” John says as he walks past his dad.

John’s father was the Grand Mage for the Royal Guard tasked with protecting the king from threats. He hadn’t heard a single time that they failed at their duty. However, it made the standard for the family rise immensely considering that someone so powerful was from our unknown family. John never liked it because he doesn’t enjoy the spotlight but just learned to deal with it.

“How was the ceremony?”

“Good, I got the Great Knight class, and it has been decided that I should go into the military.”

“It seems like all the men in our family are military men now. I’m glad that all that training is going to pay off.”

“I’m sure you are but where is everyone else.”

“Preparing for your special dinner now that you have your very own class.”

“Great.”

“I have something to give you. Come over here.”

John followed his father to the backyard and saw a dark blue sword resting against the wall of his house.

“Is that sword for me?”

“Yeah, you’re going to need a nice one since you actually going to be using one in combat. What kind of father would I be if I have left you with nothing but a wooden sword to defend yourself with? This sword was forged with magic metal Dendurite, which means that it handles mana-based attacks/skills much better than other swords. Of course, that’s only when you can actually manipulate your mana enough to perform those skills. I would ask your brother for help on that front since he is a magic swordsman.”

“Thanks, Dad, I’ll take good care of it.”

“That’s all I ask.”

John took it easy for the rest of the day, but he did get a letter with instructions on where to report for his first day. Apparently, the kingdom does not waste any time in informing people about what they need to do. John enjoyed his special dinner made up of his favorite foods as he made his way to bed for the night.
