Chapter 29 by GreenMan123 GreenMan123

What happens next?

Trying to find somewhere to relax

I walked out of the room without looking behind me, sure that Sedva was staring daggers into my back. But I walked purposely nonetheless. It took a few minutes of wandering aimlessly to find a servant to direct me to my room where some food was already waiting for me and a copper bathtub that had not been there in the morning sat filled on the far side of the room.

I devoured the food, some type of meat in a Ravnican equivalent of a tortilla, and drank an entire pitched of water before I finally sat back and thought. Sedva, for whatever reason, was angry at me and wanted me to fail, yet she was all too happy for me to succeed in the beginning of our training, why? The answer seemed to be on the tip of my tongue, but my headache made it hard to think. I looked over to the tub and quickly shrugged off my clothes before dipping my sweaty body in. The temperature was perfect and the water was infused some sweet smelling herbs, or more likely spelled to appear like that. Either way, it didn't take long for the soak to help alleviate some of the spikes of pain. I looked over to the table where a pot of what smelled like mint tea sat and the mug next to it. They were light enough that I was able to use magic to bring them over, but my exhaustion made the task more difficult than it should have been. Still, within moments I had a mug of hot tea in my hands too. I spent the next ten minutes relaxing in the tub, sipping tea, and thinking about Sedva, Ral, Mel, and everything else going on. Somewhere in there, my eyes grew heavy as I felt myself being dragged closer and closer to sleep. I rested my head against the tub and let myself be pulled into unconsciousness.

At first, it was a dark and restful nap, but I became aware of a whisper behind me. I opened my eyes to find myself out of the tub and in a featureless dark void. Just like last night. The whispers begged me to run, to stay, to bow, and to fight. Words were a luxury they did not afford me, but I could feel the emotions flooding out of the presence behind me as I was dragged back by hands and appendages, until that eye blinked open again. Where before, the eye pushed me out of the grip of the hands, this time it seemed its mere presence scared them away, leaving me to study it for a moment. I was massive, far larger than a house, almost the size of the tower alone, and it had a black slitted pupil. At first, it was almost as terrifying as the voices and... things pulling me into that void, but then I registered the emotions flowing out of it. I felt a calmness overtake me, as well as a sense of safety, as if I knew this thing would protect me against anything. As if it was my own guardian angel, my own protector, my own warder. But the moment ended too soon and another blink of his massive eye sent me tumbling back into the tub, my tea spilled on the floor.
