Chapter 18 by Blues32 Blues32

Let the healing begin.

Unlike Azula who seemed eager for the session to begin, sitting on the couch...though she was shifting about a bit, toying with her ponytail as she waited for us to begin, Toph looked irritated. I had a feeling she didn't believe she needed help. At least not to the extent I was supposed to be helping her.

The two were on the couch, I sat in an armchair across from them. "Alright, as I said before, Toph, I'm Dr. Doe. You can call me John. Azula has been in my care for four days now," I explained. "Four days...? Has it been so long...?" Azula muttered, her cheeks pink. It had been fun. Teaching Azula about modern times was almost as fun as the sex. ...okay, maybe not quite ALMOST. Maybe almost almost. It was kind of fun, but compared to the sex? No contest.

Drumming her fingers, Toph leaned on the arm of the couch, her sightless eyes seemingly duller then usual. "Uh huh," she muttered. "So, what's the plan? Sit in circles around a fire and sing songs? Maybe arts and crafts?" Her ears perked. "What are you writing?" the earthbender asked, suspiciously. I was taking notes, of course. That's what was expected of a psychotrist.

"You're not supposed to ask that," Azula chastized. "John is a professional and is not going to just divulge such information. I'm sure the concept of being "professional" isn't TOO far out of your reach." Azula suffered from sort of...swings. Some times she'd be confused and insecure. Other times she'd be quite loving and doting. And then there were her "I'm a princess, you had best respect me" phases. Each of these phases, however, seemed to hold me in very high regard.

The changes were almost visible. When in "princess mode", she held herself up tall, arms crossed, a haughty look on her face. In "confused mode", she hunched over, chewed her lip a lot, and her eyes would dart around, as if expecting someone to jump out at her. Her final phase was characterized by toying with her hair, occasionally humming, and lots of sighing.

Pulling her lip back, Toph seemed to snarl at Azula. "I know all about being a professional. I'm a wrestling champion, you know," Toph said snidely. "Oh, yes, that's a difficult occupation..."

This was getting out of hand. "Alright, that's enough!" I said sternly, making both girls clamp up and sit back. "We're not going to get anywhere with bickering. Let's try some common psychological tests. Normally I'd use ink blots, but I fear that would be lost on you, Toph. Let's try...word association."

How does it go?
