Following Helen

"Interesting," Helen whispered quietly to herself as she examined the open page in the spellbook. The sun was still down and Adam was sound asleep. She had to wake up earlier for her job anyway, but had slipped out of bed especially early so she could study the book in secret. Last night she had been especially devious. She had possessed Adam's workmate, Bill, and decided that she wouldn't reveal she was him. Helen wanted to see what her boyfriend was like when he was 'out with the lads'. She supposed she should be pleased that he was relatively well behaved, but part of her was disappointed.

Helen had used a new spell, one she had learnt whilst Adam was doing housework, to manipulate Bill's friends into doing what she wanted. It was called the 'Trojan thoughts' spell in the book, and essentially allowed the user to put thoughts into the target's head and make them think it was their own. With it, she was able to nudge Kishore and Nick in the right direction and keep the conversation around their sex lives. From the wording of the spellbook, Helen didn't think the spell would work on Adam as he was aware of her magic.

The spell that Helen had discovered this morning would allow her to further use magic with Adam being none the wiser. It was called the 'Caretaker soul' spell. It created a temporary soul that could inhabit bodies when their actual soul had been put to sleep or removed. The caretaker soul would behave based on its host body's memories, taking their place completely. This would mean Helen could possess whoever she wanted whilst her body was controlled by a drone. She smiled wickedly as she thought about the many ways she could mess with Adam. Helen would have to test the spell first though, she didn't want the 'caretaker soul' messing up her life when it was in control of her body.

Helen had driven to work herself, not willing to trust her drone to drive without testing it under safer circumstances. She was the first to arrive at the leisure centre as always, but Helen accepted that came with the responsibility of being the shift-manager. It also gave her the opportunity to cast her spells with no-one to disturb her.

Helen sat at her desk in the staff room and quietly recited the 'caretaker soul' spell. As soon as she spoke the last word she felt a strange feeling as if someone else was in her mind, present but not active. Next, she cast the astral projection spell. The increasingly familiar sensation of weightlessness and the chill that spread across her being told her it had worked. Helen floated away from her body and turned to face it. As she had hoped, and as the spell suggested, the drone had taken over control. Helen watched as the caretaker soul moved her body around naturally, completing her work as she would.

'I won't have to work another day in my life!' Helen thought as she swooped around her body. She followed it as it moved to the main entrance of the leisure centre. It had just gone 7am and a few people were already waiting outside to use the gym. Helen felt further reassured the drone would look after her body and fulfill her role as it greeted the customers in just the way she would. She took this opportunity to focus on the gym users and decide who she might want to possess.

There was a gentleman who looked recently retired going to use the treadmill, who Helen quickly rejected as a potential target. A very buff man in his forties or so who was straight on the weights. Helen ogled him for a few minutes as he worked his chest and shoulders. He was a definite option. Finally, there were a couple of yummy mummies who hadn't started to use any equipment yet and were just chatting. Both of them looked to be in their thirties and were pretty attractive. Helen giggled as she saw the reason why they weren't exercising yet was because they were distracted by the hunk on the weights.
